Today we’d like to introduce you to Sukrit Pai
Hi Sukrit, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up, I’ve always been more eager to learn when my teachers implemented visuals into academic content. This could be something as laying out posters in the classroom–during elementary school, I’d often come home after school and create my own posters based on what I learned that day. It was an outlet for my more artistic side but also helped me in the academic sphere, too.
These experiences definitely influenced me to start ‘The Note Ninja’ in high school. My favorite way to study for classes has always been to make color-coded study guides and posters for myself, so I thought I could potentially help other high schoolers by doing this, too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the “challenges” I’ve come across are more-so in relation to which techniques/designs I should implement to better help other students. I’ve experimented with adding in certain graphics or colors into my notes to see how they would resonate with my audience. There’s so many different note-taking styles out there, so I have to consistently figure out what works the best using feedback from other students.
One example of this is trying not to overwhelm people with content while still keeping my posts informative and motivating–that’s something I definitely always consider. I try to make my posts bite-sized and pleasing to the eye because oftentimes, students will procrastinate studying (me included) since we envision ourselves sitting in front of a desk and staring at paragraphs of black and white textbooks. It’s been extremely rewarding to combine my interests in design/art with academics.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Note Ninja is a small business I started to provide visual-based academic resources, such as study guides, to high school students. My goal is to make studying less of a chore or daunting task by implementing color theory and other design techniques into my study resources.
Traditional textbooks and study guides aren’t always helpful for students who benefit from learning visually. My approach aims to make learning more enjoyable and hopefully cater to different learning styles, specifically visual learners (like me) who may struggle with traditional text-heavy materials.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
While I already had an audience from my social media, it was still pretty intimidating to launch my business–since I completely run The Note Ninja myself, it was a big investment of my time, and I was unsure of the outcome.
But, more than anything, I love what I do, so I decided to go through with it either way. While I’ve only had my business up for about a month, I have no regrets and I’m extremely glad I launched it, and I’m super excited to learn more along the way!
