Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanaya Sanders.
Hi Tanaya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My husband and business partner attended undergrad and dental school together. After graduation, we returned to my home state of Texas and worked for various companies as associate dentist. We loved helping people and listening to their concerns but our position as associate never allowed that without scowling. We needed something that allowed us to be US while bringing warmth and comfort to density. People have a lot of dental anxiety and trauma that we have to comb through to get to the source of the problem. That’s how we came up with the name Second Impression Smiles. We focus so much on the first impression whether good or bad. What if that first impression was in a tough time financially? Hopefully we are not the same person we were 30 years ago and sometimes that first impression needs a second chance.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ownership is definitely not for the week. No matter how much you THINK you know about running a business and hiring, you never quite know enough. It’s a tremendous amount of work and a lot of hats on our heads…….but it’s so worth treating patients the way we want to treat them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a husband and wife team that desired to bring that mom and pop coziness with a laid back vibe. We want patients to be themselves. We don’t want to upsell a trend that will have patients regret later. We want people to trust dentistry and be fully educated in their decisions. Dentistry has phases. Dentistry is not an overnight success story and we want to be part of your journey. We are general dentists with imperfect teeth that enables us to empathize with our patients. Although we have been doing this for 20 years, we are constantly learning new services and improving our skills.
