Today we’d like to introduce you to Teka Chante’.
Hi Teka, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey is rooted in faith, resilience, and an unwavering drive to build something meaningful. I was born and raised in a small town in Mississippi with very few local opportunities, so right after graduating high school, I packed up and moved straight to Dallas, skipping college to dive headfirst into the workforce.
My early years taught me grit—starting out in the warehouse industry learning inventory and strong work ethics, then spending 20 transformative years in corporate America across customer service, sales, insurance, auto finance, and collections. That corporate foundation ultimately taught me how to think like a serial entrepreneur.
Seeking a creative outlet where I could directly serve others, I attended cosmetology school and became a licensed cosmetologist. Then, in June 2020—right at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic—my twin sister, Sheka, and I took a massive leap of faith and launched Bold and Beautiful Salon Boutique LLC. When the pandemic forced us to close our physical salon doors, we didn’t stop. We pivoted by taking our boutique online, expanding into mobile salon services, and launching Bold and Beautiful Productions. Today, that initial leap has grown into a full-scale empire spanning a dedicated streaming network (TV.boldandbeautifulstore.com), reality TV, film projects like Hood Times, published books, original music, and the Harmony and Healing Ministry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth is never the word I would use, but every single obstacle has been a necessary stepping stone. Leaving corporate security to launch a business right when a global pandemic hit was terrifying. Overnight, we had to shut down our physical salon space, which could have easily broken our momentum.
Instead of viewing it as a defeat, we viewed it as redirection. We learned how to pivot instantly—moving our retail operations online and transitioning our styling to mobile services. Beyond the pandemic, building a multi-media empire, writing books, producing films, and managing production schedules comes with daily growing pains. But keeping God at the center, relying on His whole counsel, and staying in constant student mode has kept me grounded. The resistance is just proof that you’re building something of weight.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bold and Beautiful production?
At my core, I am a serial entrepreneur, licensed cosmetologist, author, filmmaker, and media producer. Through the Bold and Beautiful Empire, I wear many hats to uplift, entertain, and inspire.
We operate an online boutique and mobile beauty services, but our footprint has expanded deeply into digital media. We launched our own streaming platform, TV.boldandbeautifulstore.com, where we stream original content, including our Bold and Beautiful Reality TV Series (which we’ve been documenting since 2023), our animated film Esther “Such A Time As This”, and promote the trailer of our upcoming gritty dramatic film series, Hood Times, which I co-wrote and executive produce alongside my twin sister and business partner, Sheka. In addition to visual media, I write books, compose original R&B and inspirational music, and run the Harmony and Healing Ministry, which is dedicated to helping others heal through shared life experiences.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What People don’t know is, I walk with confidence knowing that everything that I do is ordained by God. It gives me great pleasure of knowing that we’re favored by God and he keeps elevating us. I am very proud of the fact that we never gave up when the odds were stacked against us. Launching an enterprise during a pandemic and turning it into a multi-industry brand takes a different level of tenacity. What sets me apart is that I don’t fit into just one box—I am just as comfortable formulating professional hair color and styling clients as I am sitting in the director’s chair mapping out a film scene or building a streaming network. Everything I touch is anchored in authenticity, faith, and a deep desire to open doors for other creators who come from small-town beginnings like I did.
