Hi Tiffanie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey from where I started to where I am today is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of community. Growing up in West Dallas, I faced challenges that could have easily defined my path. However, organizations like Girls Inc. (formerly The Girls Club) and the Boys and Girls Club provided a refuge and a sense of community that shaped my early years.
Seeking broader opportunities, I pursued higher education at Virginia Union University, an HBCU in Richmond, VA, on an academic and volleyball scholarship. While the journey was transformative, life took an unexpected turn, when I became pregnant. Although I didn’t complete my college journey, the experience instilled in me a deep sense of community, responsibility and determination.
Choosing to settle down and raise our family in Oak Cliff, the community became the backdrop for the next chapters of my life. Raising our children, Isaiah, Madison, Emorie, and Layla, together with my partner Patrick here in Oak Cliff, further solidified our connection to this neighborhood. Two of our children graduated high schools here in Oak Cliff, and are both set to officially graduate their colleges in May.
However, when shipping packages to our two college students, I recognized a significant gap in the community’s access to shipping services. Having to drive 7 miles or more outside of Oak Cliff for essential shipping accommodations, I saw an opportunity to not only address this need but also to create a hub that fosters collaboration and support for small businesses and influencers in the area. Thus, Legacy Mail & Shipping, LLC was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey of establishing Legacy Mail & Shipping has been a rewarding yet challenging endeavor, and the obstacles of financial constraints and marketing still persist today.
Securing the necessary capital to launch and sustain the business demanded creative problem-solving and resourcefulness in navigating financial limitations. This ongoing challenge continues to push us to find innovative solutions and establish a solid foundation for the business.
Marketing remains a pivotal challenge. Building awareness and trust within the community requires continuous effective communication and consistent demonstrations of reliability. The community has to know that we here for individuals and businesses to shift their shipping needs to our location. Which is a part of our ongoing strategic marketing efforts. Overcoming this persistent obstacle is crucial in maintaining and growing our presence in the community.
Despite these ongoing challenges, the steadfast support from the Oak Cliff community has been a driving force. The journey, marked by financial and marketing hurdles, continues to shape Legacy Mail & Shipping into a resilient and community-focused establishment.

Success, for me, is a multifaceted concept that goes beyond mere financial achievements. While financial stability is undoubtedly important, true success encompasses a holistic and balanced approach to life.
My journey at Legacy Mail & Shipping is guided by principles rooted in my faith, adding depth and purpose to my professional and personal endeavors. This subtle connection to something greater keeps me grounded and influences the way I approach challenges and successes alike.
Professionally, success is about creating a positive impact in the Oak Cliff community through Legacy Mail & Shipping. It’s about providing essential services, fostering collaboration among small businesses, and contributing to the overall well-being of the community by creating avenues for as many other people as possible.
On a personal level, success involves my faith, finding fulfillment in daily activities, continuous self-improvement, and fostering meaningful connections. Giving back to the community is a key component, as success is not only measured by personal achievements but also by the positive contributions made to the lives of others.
