Today we’d like to introduce you to Urooj Aziz.
Hi Urooj, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After having my courses done, I initially started working in salon as a Makeup Artist & Hair Stylist on weekends. Following few years, I realized I should be working on my own. It was a hard decision since I was not sure how will I be doing marketing, my company registration, and all the formalities and paperwork, but did it with the help & support of my husband. So, once I made my decision & left the salon, I registered my company and started working on marketing on social media, it was January 2020 and then in March Covid 19 was announced. 🙁 then I just had few clients for whole year. But then from 2021, it got better & better slowly & gradually. And now here I am. But a lot is still left. I have a vision of expanding my company and then hopefully will open my school for Makeup Artistry & Hair Styling especially.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well of course it was not smooth, Pandemic was the biggest struggle. Other than that, I had to learn little bit of photography, and marketing on social media, and honestly, I am still learning. Trends change so fast
As you know, we’re big fans of Makeup and Hair by UR. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am an onsite Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist. I have Bridal and Bridal party packages to offer. I have done American / Pakistani / Indian weddings.
I have covered a lot of other occasions also like prom, graduation, homecoming, corporate events, and etc.
I offer different range of Makeup according to different occasions like Natural glam, party glam, dramatic glam, and tattoo/birthmark cover-ups. For Hairstyling I offer Half up & Half down, updo, blowouts, applying clip in hair extensions &, etc.
I have a booking system available. I would say the professionalism sets me apart from others. I listened to my clients, and discuss with them their expectations and needs. I am most proud of my dedication to my passion.
