Today we’d like to introduce you to Valencia Gladney.

Hi Valencia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a founder and formulator behind Remedí Co., a Dallas-based bodycare brand dedicated to healing the skin and elevating everyday rituals through science-backed, nature-driven formulations.

Many of our products were born from my own struggles with dry, sensitive skin and the challenge of finding bodycare that was effective and intentionally formulated for melanated skin. What I needed simply didn’t exist — so I started creating these “remedies” for myself and, eventually, for my community.

Remedí Co. began in 2020 as a sisterhood of Black women rooted in love, gift-giving, and community. From the beginning, our goal as formulators has been to solve the skin, hair, and beard concerns that affect our community.

Our mission is to seamlessly blend science, nature, and skincare to deliver high-performing formulas that meet real needs and empower our customers to feel confident in their skin.

For us, Remedí is about healing from within and releasing that glow outward. And above all — our formulas work. Our whipped body crème is one of our proudest examples.

Our best selling whipped body créme has been revamped several times to get the final product it is today. It’s fortified with 8 natural oils, manuka honey, glycerin, and bakuchiol — a gentle, plant-based retinol alternative that renews skin cells without irritation. The result is a deeply hydrating, barrier-loving moisturizer designed for everyday hydration..

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the struggles we care most deeply about is maintaining accessibility in a time when so many people are feeling the impact of rising costs. We know our customers personally — their stories, their needs, their budgets — and we never want Remedí Co. to feel out of reach. Even as ingredient and manufacturing costs increase, we work intentionally to keep our price points steady without sacrificing quality.

It’s a delicate balance, but it matters to us.

Our community has poured into us since the beginning, and making sure they can continue to enjoy our products is a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

As you know, we’re big fans of Remedí Co. . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Remedí Co. is a Dallas-born bodycare brand built on the mission that caring for your skin should be both healing and luxurious.

Community is the heartbeat of Remedí Co. and we are alll about healing from within and releasing the glow. We strive to constantly show appreciation and adoration of our culture, our skin and our hair. In a world that often feels too heavy and uncertain, we hope our products create a semblance of consistency, care, and beauty.

What truly sets us apart is that every product in our lineup began as a solution to a real problem someone in our community faced. If someone struggled with dryness, sensitivity, or irritation, we created a remedy specifically for them. Our approach has always been human-first. We listen and we don’t judge. No really listening, understanding, then formulating with intention are important to us. Our best-selling body crème is a perfect example. It was inspired by my own struggle with dry, reactive skin. I could never find a lotion that kept me moisturized for a full 24 hours, didn’t irritate my skin, or smelled like something I wanted to wear every day. So, I created one.

It transformed my routine completely and quickly replaced every lotion on my shelf. Formulated with shea butter, aloe butter, Manuka honey and a plant-based retinol alternative, our crème delivers deep hydration, gentle barrier support, and daily cell turnover — offering the benefits of exfoliation without irritation or heightened sun sensitivity.

We also believe great skincare shouldn’t have to sacrifice on scent. Many of our favorite releases feature fragrance blends that complement or were inspired by high-end perfumeries.

Quality and integrity are at the core of our brand. Our shea butter, the heart of our best-selling crème, is sourced from a small woman-owned Ghanaian business. Supporting small communities and ethical producers is a pillar of who we are, and we remain committed to sourcing ingredients that are both high-quality and responsibly harvested. By formulating everything in-house, we maintain complete control over efficacy, purity, and transparency.

What we are most proud of is that Remedí Co. has stayed true to its foundation: community, integrity, intentional formulation. We are proud that our products genuinely improve the way people feel about their hair and skin.
