Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Van
Hi Victor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Victor Van, D.C., and I am the owner and chiropractor at VAN CHIROPRACTIC located in North Arlington. I am a first generation, Vietnamese American that was born in Hawaii. At the age of two years old, my family and I moved to Arkansas, where I grew up for the next 20 plus years. My parents owned a nail salon in Batesville, Arkansas for all of those 20 plus years, which is where my entrepreneurship mindset and work ethic come from. At a young age helping my parents around the nail salon, I knew that I wanted to own my own business. Upon graduating high school, I attended the University of Central Arkansas, where I received a Bachelors Degree and became an athletic trainer. I love sports, so working in sports medicine was a huge accomplishment of mine. I received a job offer from Tarleton State University to be a graduate assistant athletic trainer and I made the big move to Texas in 2017. I worked at Tarleton for 2 years with the volleyball and cheer teams. During my time at Tarleton, the teams that I was a part of won some huge tournaments, including the 2017 and 2018 Lone Star Conference Championships and a 2017 National Championship with the cheer team. I received my Masters in Kinesiology at Tarleton and decided to move to the DFW area where i continued my sports medicine career as a concussion specialist. One day, I was working out at the gym and injured my back doing a dead lift. I had shooting pain into my left leg and could hardly walk. I had never been to the chiropractor until that day. There was a chiropractic clinic next to the gym and I decided I would see what it was all about. My life changed after the first adjustment. I went from not being able to walk to now feeling 50% better after just one adjustment. I fell in love with the profession, especially because it was still similar to what I was doing with my sports medicine degree. I decided to go back to my original dream of wanting to be an entrepreneur and my dreams of opening up my own medical clinic became more achievable when I was accepted into Parker University’s Doctor of Chiropractic program in 2019. For the next 3.5 years, I studied and learned so much, adding onto the knowledge I already had. In August of 2023, I graduated from Parker and became a board certified and licensed Doctor of Chiropractic. For the next few months, I worked at a clinic, but in the back of my head, I knew that I wanted to open. In May of 2024, I decided to go all in on the American dream and quit my job as an associate. I opened my own clinic and that brings us to today, where I am grateful and thankful for the opportunity to change peoples lives at VAN CHIROPRACTIC.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. The struggles of living up to Vietnamese parents expectations and becoming a doctor are very tough and mentally taxing. Studying every single day for the past 10 years was not fun, but necessary to achieve the dream. My parents and siblings have helped me during the entire journey, so although it was a rocky road, they gave me good tires for the road.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a sports, family, and wellness chiropractic clinic. The services we offer includes spinal adjustments, spinal decompression, dry needling, cupping, nutritional advice, rehabilitation, and more. What sets us apart from others is that we spend time and that we care. I always take time with every patient no matter what is going on with them. I want readers to know that we are currently accepting new patients. We are out of network with insurance, but our price reflects that so our prices are affordable similar to a copay. Many of the services we offer arent covered by insurance anyways!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My fiancé, Rose Pham, deserves so much credit because she has been with me through almost the entire chiropractic journey. We started dating when I was 1 year into chiropractic school and has helped me through school and helping me open and run VAN CHIRORPRACTIC.
Dr. Michael Bank is one of the mentors I have. He played a huge role because even though he see’s many patients a day, he still takes time with each and every one of them and didn’t lose sight of what’s important, which is helping everyone and making a connection with them.
