Community Highlights: Meet Victoria Helfrich of Victory Speech Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Helfrich.

Hi Victoria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from the small town of Ponder, Texas, and my journey began in an unexpected place—on the stage. I attended Butler University in Indiana to pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer. But during my junior year, I felt a deep pull toward a different kind of impact. I wanted a career that would allow me to connect with others in a meaningful way, while still embracing creativity and movement. That’s when I discovered speech-language pathology—and I knew I had found my calling.

I went on to earn my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Kent State University in Ohio in 2016. My first role was in a pediatric private practice, where I truly fell in love with this work. I thrived in the clinic setting and had the opportunity to help establish a school-based therapy program for children with Autism. It was during this time that I began deepening my expertise in early language development and Autism Spectrum Disorder, guided by incredible mentors.

Wanting to keep my medical-based skills sharp, I also worked in inpatient rehabilitation through the Cleveland Clinic. But in 2019, Texas called me home. I stepped into a leadership role as the speech team manager of a large home health company—and it was there I realized I wanted to do things differently. I envisioned a space where clinicians weren’t rushed, where parents felt truly heard, and where we could walk alongside families through every uncertain moment and celebrate every hard-won victory.

That’s how Victory was born in 2023.

Victory is more than just speech therapy—it’s connection, joy, and progress. It’s about bringing heart and humanity back into the medical world. It’s therapy done the Victory way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to growing Victory has definitely had its twists and turns! Like many small business owners, I’ve had to learn to be flexible, creative, and willing to put myself out there—even when it felt scary. Starting something from the ground up takes grit, and there have been seasons of uncertainty, long nights, and lots of learning along the way.

One of the most valuable lessons has been the power of community. I’ve been so fortunate to build relationships with amazing families who have supported and championed Victory from the beginning. Their trust means everything.

It’s also taught me the importance of having an abundance mindset and leaning into collaboration. The therapy world in DFW is beautifully connected, and I truly believe there’s space for all of us. Nothing brings me more joy than referring a family to another practice or a different discipline if it means they’ll get the best care possible. We’re better when we work together—and that’s what Victory is all about.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Victory Speech Therapy?
Victory is a pediatric private practice that offers play-based speech and language therapy services to families in a way that feels personal, intentional, and rooted in connection. We specialize in early language development, Autism Spectrum Disorder, feeding therapy, and neurodiverse-affirming care. Whether we’re working with a toddler just starting to babble, a preschooler with big feelings and even bigger ideas, or a family navigating a brand new diagnosis, our goal is always the same: to support, empower, and walk alongside.

What sets us apart is something we call The Victory Way. Our sessions are longer, our approach is more relational, and our therapists are deeply invested—not just in progress, but in the people behind it. We take time to listen to parents, celebrate the small wins, and help families feel seen, heard, and supported.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Victory is known for its heart. We’re not just another therapy provider—we’re a partner in your child’s journey, a cheerleader for your family, and a place where therapy feels joyful, respectful, and filled with purpose.

I want readers to know that at Victory, we believe every child deserves to be met exactly where they are—with curiosity, compassion, and a plan that works for them. We offer in-home, in-school, and community-based services, and we’re always evolving to meet the unique needs of the families we serve. Victory isn’t just a name—it’s a mission. Every child. Every voice. Every victory.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is when a parent walks away not only understanding their child’s unique needs, but also feeling confident and supported in how to help their child grow. It’s that moment when a family realizes they’re not in this alone—they have a partner walking alongside them.

On a personal level, success also means having a balanced life that allows room for creativity, connection, and flexibility. I built Victory with those values at its core. One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is being able to pour back into the community—whether that’s through free Story Times, sensory events, or just being a familiar, trusted face in a family’s life. To me, success isn’t just about progress on a chart—it’s about creating meaningful, lasting impact in the lives of others.
