Vinay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Vinay Singh started his company in 1990; before that, he worked at IBM for 2 years, which was a safe career choice. However, he was never one to play it safe. He thrived on risk and definitely took a lot of them. He originally studied computer science, and he quickly realized he didn’t want to be stuck behind a desk his whole life, so he went out and started his own company. His business acumen and personality, combined with his love for jewelry and gemstones, has made this company into the international empire it is today. He turned the $27,000 he invested in starting his company into millions. He flew and traveled all over the world (Europe, Africa, and Asia) to collect his own stones. He himself designed every piece of jewelry that is in our inventory.
(For the beginning): Born in India, moved to New York City for university, then worked at IBM, rough beginnings.
Unfortunately, Vinay Singh passed away in February due to a rare and aggressive form of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. His family plans to continue company operations, carry his legacy forward, and keep the spirit of “trust is a tradition” alive.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Driving a million miles across the country for countless years to build a legacy and provide for his family,
Traveling continuously and being apart from his family, missing his kids’ childhoods and important milestones
