Community Highlights: Meet Yaissa Montenegro Cifuentes of Yaissa Montenegro Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yaissa Montenegro Cifuentes.

Hi Yaissa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a proud Latina from Medellin, Colombia. I moved to the USA when I was 15 years old, when I came into the country i didn’t speak any English and although I had visited the country many times before it was still a culture shock at first. I graduated high school went to college and entered the workforce in the medical field because helping others has always been my passion, in the mix of the pandemic my health declined significantly I have sickle cells disease and with the craziness of 2020 my world changed and so did my career that’s when I entered the world of Human Resources. I am a wife and mother of 2 beautiful kids that unfortunately had to see me at the hospital more than they did at home, because of this in 2023 I attempted a bone marrow transplant without any success and there I was again thinking of the what if’s and knowing I would never be able to have life insurance to not only protect me but my kids and family if I didn’t make it. At this point I started digging into this world and realized there’s more options out there and the problem lies in the lack of people wanting to help families so I took a leap of faith got license and started my career in the insurance world where I concentrate in actually helping as many families as i can and specially people like me that have no hope because we been told no way to many times.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you have a business the “easy road” doesn’t exist. As a business owner you are constantly being challenged and you need to adapt to the changes quickly. My biggest obstacle has been my health sometimes it’s hard to keep pushing and smile when you are in so much pain but the goals are clear and at the end of the day I’m doing this to help my community and better my families life so even though the obstacles are always there we have to keep going.

We’ve been impressed with Yaissa Montenegro Insurance , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in all things life insurance and financial services. Offering affordable coverage for all ages and even if you have medical conditions our carriers offer so many options. I am a broker so I have access to over 84 different carries in the United States and I’m license in multiple states. I’m proud to be a part of a world that allows families to protect what matters most! We also provide employment opportunities for the ones wanting more out of life and are willing to take the steps to advance their careers in this industry, from coaching every step of the way to a system that works!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The insurance industry is constantly growing and evolving. I don’t anticipate any big shift however I do hope more people get informed on the matter and choose to be protected for the unexpected.
