Conversations with Chicano Rico

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chicano Rico.

Hi Chicano, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started writing music for 11 years ago but it wasn’t till two years ago that I began to release music. Now, I’m getting the recognition and praise that I feel I deserve. 11 years of hard work is finally paying off and it’s all up from here!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My road was far from smooth. Being a Chicano in the rap game is a big challenge in becoming a successful music artist but with consistency, thick skin and continuously improving writing skills, I’ve been able to change the cover of every book I was judged by.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m bilingual so I make music in English and Spanish, so that allows me to make rap, hip-hop, Latin trap and reggaeton.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to new artist is don’t try to cater to everyone’s opinion and just be proud of the music you release and don’t be discouraged if it takes you a while to find your “sound.”
