Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Dunn.
Hi Gabrielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a place where it was easier to blend in than to stand out, and it took me 20 years to figure out that I was never meant to blend in. At the age of 20, I really began to dive deep into myself and figure out who I really am. For as long as I could remember, the one thing I have always loved to do is create. I have used my creativity to express myself in times that I felt like I couldn’t find the right words to say. Right after COVID hit, I lost my job and that’s when it hit me, it’s time to use my best skill, creativity. I began making earrings out of clay, and then I began making necklaces. In June of 2020, I typed out a business plan and by August 2020, I was able to launch an entire jewelry line that included earrings, necklaces and rings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No journey worth taking is ever going to have a smooth road, but that’s what makes it so fulfilling in the end. I believe one of my biggest struggles was overcoming to the fear of what everyone else would think.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I design and handmake all of my jewelry, I specialize I’m women’s jewelry but I am hoping to expand to male jewelry as well. I am known for my minimal jewelry that makes a big statement. I am most proud of building my brand by myself and being consistent. I believe what sets me apart from others is the message behind my jewelry, it’s not just about how beautiful the jewelry is, it’s about how you feel wearing it; it’s about owning your power.
Can you talk about how you think about risk?
Without risk, there is no reward. My biggest risk was launching a jewelry brand mid pandemic and not knowing what the outcome would be.
