Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliyah Griffin.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
To begin without the holy spirit, none of this would be possible.
In 2013, my life had finally begun to start as so I thought. I graduated from Desoto High School and was headed to college. My skin had already started to break out but nothing too serious, it wasn’t until I made it to college that my skin really turned against me. I had severe cystic acne. My freshman and sophomore year is when it was the worst. I tried everything from over the counter products to medical-grade to seeking out skincare experts and nothing seem to work. This caused me to be very insecure and I had such low confidence. I would look at other girls and compare my self to them. I remember crying every single day and wondering why the very thing that I had been so obsessive over in the past has now become the thing I could not get under control. So then I started my journey of researching the skin. I would research and take action into my kitchen by putting and preparing natural and raw ingredients together. I would test them on myself and notice the improvements in my skin. On top of creating my skincare routine, I also made diet changes. My peers started to ask me what I was doing to clear my skin and at the time, I was giving them the Recipe. I had come up with a formula that not only cleared my skin but healed my skin inside and out. My mother was a major part of my journey. She saw the dedication I had when it came to clearing my skin that she invested in me by finding a chemist and giving me the start-up money for my business, not to mention that she herself is in the beauty industry. Aaliyah’s Beauty & Beyond is a product line with natural and raw ingredients. Aaliyah’s Beauty & Beyond was created to improve and heal the mental and physical appearance of women and men of all ages and colors. This has been a very successful journey. I have already witnessed several testimonials of totally healing from the inside and out. “Heal the skin, heal within”. Aaliyah’s Beauty & Beyond isn’t just a product line, it’s a movement that’s going to trailblaze the beauty industry. With continual research, there are more products and creative ideas to come. I want to change the perspective of what the meaning of beauty really is and how it affects our mental and physical well-being and appearance. Beauty Beyond Perspective is a phrase to imply that beauty is beyond what we can physically see, beauty is coming into the knowledge of knowing that your beauty cannot be defined because your beauty is unique. “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” -Song of Songs 4:7
To end, to God I give all the credit and glory because without my relationship with him and his constant guidance, none of this would be possible.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The advice that I would give to other young women would embrace your adversaries because out of my insecurities and fears, I birth my destiny.
What should we know about Aaliyah’s Beauty & Beyond? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am an upcoming clinical skincare esthetician that specializes in total healing. I create skincare products the heal the skin. Aaliyah’s Beauty and Beyond is located inside of Dramatic Results Salon & Spa. Inside we have a suite where clients come and receive skincare treatments, products, and their skincare treatment plan. What sets me apart from others is that I not only ask about “skincare concerns” but I care about how it affects each individual. I don’t just want to see them wear clear skin, but I want to build the self-esteem and confidence that go along with it.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
My mentor is my mom, we have a very strong relationship. She is not only my mentor but my business partner and I trust her advice. I would tell others to make sure your mentor is someone you trust and can give you great advice and guidance on whatever your purpose may be.
I am very open to the advice of others but also very careful about what advice I listen too. It’s important to use wisdom when receiving advice.
