Today we’d like to introduce you to Archana Verma.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started getting creative with cooking once I started meal prepping for the week. I experimented with different recipes, different flavors, and seasonings which made me realize that I enjoy cooking.
I used to cook for the sake of cooking; I needed to eat, so I didn’t have a choice! At first, I would just post pictures on Instagram Story of my food, without expecting anything from it. But then, I had people reach out to me to post recipes. After contemplating for a while, I transformed my Instagram to a Food blog!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been tough – I am not a photographer nor a professional chef. I just happen to enjoy eating and cooking. But capturing my food with a camera is tough. The angles, the color, the vibrancy lacks in photos and it differs from the reality of my dish. But photography is a part of my blog, so I am eager to learn more skills to make my dish look as good as it does in person, on a camera.
Another struggle is getting viewers for my blog. It is not always easy knowing what other people are wanting to see, but I am realizing this is about me expressing myself through food and the enjoyment it brings.
My advice is: find something you’re passionate about. It won’t be easy, necessarily. But once you follow your dreams, nobody can take that happiness away from you. Be your biggest supporter. And always believe in yourself.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Forever_eatingg story. Tell us more about the business.
My background is what makes my food different than other chefs. I am Indian, and I never truly embraced the beauty of Indian food until now. There are so much flavor, spice, color, and taste that I try to mimic in everything I make. Cooking takes patience and love (cliche, right?). But I’m realizing how true that is – it takes time for the flavor and color to come together to make an amazing dish.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Opening my Instagram to the public has helped. I am inspired by different chefs that are well known through Instagram which is why I chose this method. It’s a great way to network, and reach out to different bloggers, as it’s not always easy, but I willing to learn techniques to make this even more successful.
