Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Lopez.
Carolina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At 18, I made the decision to move to the United States to pursue my dream of becoming an established event designer. Adjusting to a new life, a new language and culture were not easy. I remained optimistic about taking advantage of a college education and employment opportunities within the restaurant industry. I worked many long hours between host, server, and event planning roles for small corporate and private events in NYC where I continued to develop my event planning skills. My husband and I moved to Texas in 2007 to pursue our event planning and design dreams. Since then, we have planned and organized non-profit organization events to help and assist low-income families in the Collin County area and worked with small businesses and wedding clients to plan their special events.
Carolina Lopez Events focuses on weddings and events planning and design, from full and partial event services, to “day of coordination” services. We do it all for our clients to ensure we meet their needs and requirements.
Has it been a smooth road?
While building our business and brand, there were many challenges to overcome. Upon arriving at the States, the language and the culture were all very different to me. I became laser-focused on learning the language, assimilating to the culture and learning the tricks of the trade in NYC. When we moved to Texas, we had to start from the ground up, getting to know the area, the culture, and slowly began to build relationships with people from all industries and walks of life.
Although the many challenges and sleepless nights, our passion, determination, and care for others made it possible to persevere through it all.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Carolina Lopez Events story. Tell us more about it.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
When I have the opportunity to speak to young women starting their career, I think of the wise words my mother once told me as I embarked on my own journey 20 years ago.
Learn and get your hands dirty – You will not thrive if you do not learn, so educate and train yourself any way possible to learn and practice your craft. Jump right in! Don’t be afraid of making mistakes because there will be plenty, though, these will be your best learning moments.
Have a plan and set goals – You need to know where you are and where you want to go. Layout your vision and the steps to get there. Don’t worry, you can make adjustments along the way!
Build relationships – You need to connect with others and build and foster those relationships. Your clients, vendors, mentors, friends, and family all form part of your success. They will form your network of support, feedback, growth, and challenges.
