Today we’d like to introduce you to Davida Brumfield.
Davida, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m originally from a small town called Madison, Wisconsin. Raised in a small town called Jackson, TN. Now, reside in Irving, TX I got into my journey following the footsteps of my mother. My mother was a hairdresser and delivered babies as a midwife for most of her adult life. Although I didn’t follow her passion as a hairdresser, I worked in healthcare for many years starting at the age of 19, now at the age of 31 I wanted more in life as a single parent raising a young daughter and there was nothing in life than being your own boss and setting your own boss and setting your own schedule. Although I loved working with my patients and always wished I could do more for them, you can only do so much. After taking a hospice case and losing a life to a client, more like family. I chose to go in another direction and use my other license. I was still helping others, but this time it was different. Now, I’m dealing with just skin and helping others with their skin challenges. Helping people be their most beautiful selves and I loved that!
Has it been a smooth road?
I won’t say this journey was easy. Heck, I’m still pushing! It has been a challenge for me with building clientele especially with being somewhat of a newbie in this industry, but it has been oh so worth it! You’ll never know what you’re capable of doing unless you try! I keep a prayerful life and know God has me every step of a way!
I like to go by this quote by Elbert Einstein it states.
“I am thankful for all of those who said no to me. It’s because of them, I’m doing it myself.”
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Madison LuXe skin Bar story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in a variety of different facials, Full Body Waxing, Vaginal Steaming, Eyebrow and Eyelash Tinting, Eyelash Curling, etc. I specialize in not just focusing on the outer side of your skin but getting deep down to what’s causing your skin problems. Which is why I partnered beside a dermatologist. Although I’m licensed and certified in treating my client’s skin, I’m always studying the human body and bettering my knowledge, so I can give the best results to my clients.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I say, find out what you’re passionate about in life first, see who’s already doing it and consult with people that are already in the business. Join social groups, get familiar with your area and surroundings.
