Conversations with the Inspiring Dora Chu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dora Chu.

Dora, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
HI! I’m DoraSpectacular, and YOU’RE Spectacular, too!!!

I am fashion obsessed Host who loves to bring out the heart and humor in my Interviewees to spread feelings of spectacularness all around.

I was asked by a wonderful fashion website to interview guests at a Dallas fashion gala several years ago. I was new to interviewing, but it was exhilarating to not know what to expect, lol.

I “meet” my Interviewees usually at a runway show or during Fashion Week and can’t wait to cover the Paris Haute Couture next summer.

I work with Hauturely.com , a fantastic platform popular on Instagram for the fashion obsessed. Just like me.

When there is a special connection- everything clicks. YOU will almost always see my “specs” and gloves, and my favorite tulle dress of the moment. I adore tulle because it is easy to wash and makes me feel like a princess.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The greater the obstacle you face, the more spectacular it will be when that obstacle is overcome. And yes, I’ve had many tremendous obstacles like many of us.

I grew up feeling quite restricted and unable to be myself… and embarked upon a long, difficult and transformative journey beginning when I realized how much I was loved from above. Knowing that the Lord “fearfully and wonderfully” created us, according to Psalm 139, has been so monumental in helping me grow up into a happier and stronger person.

I used to think that once I overcame this or that “obstacle” that life would be easy, but I truly believe now that life will always present new challenges.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into DoraSpectacular story. Tell us more about it.
“One” of my dreams is to win First Runner Up for the Most Distinguished Interviewer in The DoraSpectacular Hall Of Fame Museum (In the works, hehe!)

Actually, my passion is to spread light by helping others share their individual and spectacular “STAR BRIGHT”. We all carry such a treasure within- our individuality is priceless. People need to laugh (great medicine!) and be presented with inspiring role models who are in all actuality – just like the viewers themselves.

We are all alike with the same hopes, dreams, and insecurities, and hearing others open up can be both healing and inspiring.

Another passion is fashion… and boy do I love a good bargain, but somehow I do not mind spending money on warehouses to store all my “finds”! As a former Fashion Stylist, I believed that fashion was a vehicle to express individuality, but now feel that fashion can be an asset to add another dimension to how we see ourselves.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
I would ask someone just beginning their journey to find a fabulous mentor. We all need guidance AND affirmation! I loved my friendship and collaboration with Paul Neinast, and I often fondly remember all of his very valuable advice and support.

Also, it is just too easy to be “overly” concerned about what others think… YOU have got to “Dance Like No One’s Watching!”
