Conversations with the Inspiring Jamie Simpson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Simpson.

Jamie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I had a best friend with Down Syndrome named Turbo. Every day after school, I would try to teach Turbo everything I learned that day by playing “school” with him. Because of Turbo, I always knew I wanted to help people when I grew up – so I became a Special Education teacher. A few years into teaching, I realized I needed to help more people – students, I thought. So, I got my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, along with my principal certification, and became an Administrator. I thought that was how I would finally be able to help more people in bigger ways. After doing that for a little while, though, I realized that I still wasn’t being fulfilled – I still wasn’t getting to help people in the capacity that I had hoped. So, I made the decision to leave K-12 education in order to pursue my dream of helping others in big ways and I haven’t looked back.

I am so grateful that now, as a real estate agent, I get to help whoever I want, when I want, how I want! I have a tremendous opportunity to serve others and assist them on their journey to finding “home”! I couldn’t be happier and more fulfilled! It also doesn’t hurt that I get to travel more and hang out with my pups, Boone and Cooper, anytime I want.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing about my journey has been easy, but every step has been exactly what I needed, when I needed it, even if I didn’t know it at the time. I have had to push through some of the biggest disappointments that I thought would break me. But after every setback, I always had a tremendous comeback and I am absolutely a better woman because of it all. I also have the BEST support system in the world so that has helped SO MUCH!

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
The biggest thing that sets me apart from other real estate agents is that I strive to build long-lasting relationships with each of my clients. I stay in touch so I can provide value long after the transaction is closed. I send helpful information out each month on things like how to decorate your home and even how to keep yourself safe from identity theft. Because of my background in education, I also take the time to educate my clients on every single step of the transaction – whether or not it’s their first time buying or selling a house. It’s so important to me that I help my clients make the decision that’s right for them. Lastly, I like to have fun while I work – there’s never a dull moment when I’m helping my clients find their new home!

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I truly think that women have so many amazing opportunities to make the most of their lives and do amazing things. We’re often just too afraid to look for them, much less go after what we really want. We’re afraid to fail and we’re afraid to be rejected and we’re terrified of what other people will think if we don’t do what we are “supposed” to do. I know I was! Once I made my decision, though, I finally got to experience fulfillment and joy in what I do.
