Today we’d like to introduce you to Magnolia JeA.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Magnolia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Natchez, MS and raised in Dallas, TX. I have been dancing and choreographing at the age of ten. As a teenager, I was a team member of her school dance team at every school I attended. In 2010 I continued my dancing into college with a major in Education and minor in Dance.
In 2011 during college, I was the President of the dance team until 2012 and also attended classes in the genres of Jazz, Contemporary, Salsa, Zumba, Dancehall, Performance, Modern, and her favorite Hip Hop. Through my dancing, I fell in love with capturing beautiful moments in photographs. I then begin getting more into the creative side with the passion to create both dance and model art. With my passion for dance, I had taken the opportunity of making women feel good about themselves through dance by being the head instructor of a hip hop/twerk out a class called Vixen Fit Camp. After some time, I moved back to my second home to Dallas when I began to instruct my own dance fitness classes and take advantage of more modeling opportunities. I currently instruct my own “Twerk Aerobics” dance class on Thursdays at 8:30 pm. This class is for all the people who just love to dance while getting a good workout in.
Along with a good workout, I teach some fun twerk choreography. I also became a certified Zumba instructor which is a free class I offer on Fridays. The class is offered at Xclusive Fit Club & Spa in Carrollton, TX. I have always wanted to help someone through dancing so, why not help them get fit along the way. I would like to thank God, my family & friends, and all of the Magnolia JeA supporters. In the words of Je’A, “Ladies let’s twerk it out! Staying strong, smart, and sexy.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road towards achieving my goals has not been easy. However, no one’s road to success starts off smoothly and remember there will always be bumps in the road but never give up because every bump, hole, hill, and curve will only make you stronger.
What should we know about Twerk Aerobics? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a choreographer and dance instructor that instructs her own fitness dance class. Twerk Aerobics is a fun-filled dance class that not only get your heart pumping but your booty moving too, It is a semi intense dance class that mixes your everyday workout moves with your favorite night out moves. Each class starts with a workout and ends with choreography. Classes are every Thursday at 8:30 pm, to register for class download the Xclusive Fit Club & Spa app.
I have been a model for a little over five years. I also model for local brands and businesses around the Dallas area. I have worked with brands such as FlyGirl Boutique in Norfolk, Virginia and Dallas brands such as TreeHugger, AllorNothing Clothing, and Soigne Lingerie. I love to promote others and build great business relationships and my modeling helps me do that.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I feel that the biggest barrier in today’s female leadership will be the lack of support. For example, there are hundreds of women that will have the same business venture as you but yet instead of supporting each other, we instantly think we are in competition.
As a female leader, I feel it takes way less energy to support and share positive information than it is to tear someone else business down for your own benefit.
