Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Yeager.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey started when I moved from across the ocean five years ago from Romania. I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in the beauty industry. I initially started my career with Instagram and YouTube at that time by creating makeup tutorials. After building my Instagram account to become one of the top influencers in the United States and working with many brands, I had a sudden realization. I loved connecting with people.
It was then when I realized I had discovered my true passion. This inspired me to begin to learn more about the beauty industry and where I felt that I could connect with most people who eventually became my clients.
Starting out was a little scary at first because I was still relatively new to America and had no family or friends here to support my aspiration to become successful in this industry. As a result, I had two options, succeed or succeed. Success like anything in life is a choice and I chose that instead of failure.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest lessons I learned during my journey to success was how important it was to fail. Failure is one of the most valuable lessons anyone who is getting started in a new career can have occurred. It is perfectly okay to fail, but the key to succeeding is never giving up along the way.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As a hairdresser, I specialize in women’s color and style. What separates me from others is my ability to connect with my clients, while still coming up with creative formulas for their hair. Part of my strengths in these areas comes from my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and my passion for all things art. I’m most proud of the clientele I have built in a short period of time and the relationships I have with each and every single one of them. They are all amazing and I am lucky to be their stylist.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
The biggest barriers women face today is being able to maximize opportunities in the workplace. I’m proud to say that I’ve taken of the opportunities that I’ve created for myself and women today are empowered like never before to do exactly what they choose. In any industry, there are going to be challenges, downsides, and frustrations. As a woman, I can say with absolute certainty that you can achieve success as long as you prepare for future opportunities.
