Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaniece Miller.
Shaniece, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am from Waxahachie Texas. I am an only child to both of my parents, Shelia Venters and Alan Miller. I attended college at Trinity Valley Community College where I was a member of the nationally acclaimed Cardette Dance/Drill Team. I then attended Tarleton State University where I was a member of the Texan Star Dance Team, While at Tarleton, major life events happened to me and from those, I birthed my first self-published book “Where was God in all of this?” In my book, I describe in detail things that I encountered and endured and really discovering that God was my solid rock when I hit rock bottom. Last year, I launched my own nonprofit organization “Wonderfully Made.” Wonderfully Made was created to equip, encourage, and empower women all over the world to become all that God has destined them to be! I serve as the Assistant Director of the Graduate School at UNT Dallas.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I am an avid reader, so when I felt lead to write my book and tell my story, I was very reluctant and hesitant because I didn’t want to share with the world some of the things that I had gone through. It wasn’t until I started telling my story, that I felt free from my past mistakes. I began to notice other women becoming free and healed when I told them my story. I would encourage any young woman to NEVER ignore the tug and pull on that they feel on their heart because that is their purpose trying to push them to greater!
what should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a mentor. I have a mentoring ministry (Virtue Mentoring Ministry) every Tuesday night at my church Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. It is free and open to any teenage girl, grades 9-12. In addition to being a mentor, an author and having my own non-profit, I am also a Women’s Conference/Breakout Session speaker. What sets me apart from others is that I am bold. I am transparent. I am intentional. I will get out of the car and pray with women on the streets. I am ALWAYS ready and prepared to serve anyone that God allows in my path.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Absolutely! Women are well positioned for just about any opportunity that comes our way because so many women have climbed the ladder of success and are opening doors in careers that were once male-dominated. Women are doctors, CEO’s, Principals, Presidents, etc. and because of this, women have more of an advantage to reach aby goal and become whatever they desire to be.
