Conversations with Aida Lamce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aida Lamce.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I came to the US eight years ago from Albania, a country in South-Eastern Europe. I had a prosperous career in Finance in my home country, but it has always been a dream of mine to study abroad. In an effort to chase my childhood dream, I made the 5,000-mile trip and came to Plano, Texas – the city that would become my new home. In 2020, I graduated with an Associate of Science degree from Collin College. After this, I originally planned on continuing my studies to pursue a second bachelor’s degree, but the COVID pandemic changed my plans. I decided to take a chance and pursue something I was passionate about – starting my own business. Having always had a passion for entrepreneurship, I started taking steps to open my own restaurant. Because I had a strong background in Operations and Management, I was confident that I could operate a successful business here in my second home of Plano.

After an immense amount of time, effort, sacrifice, and determination, I opened my business in October of 2022: Edmond’s Burgers. I wanted to make my restaurant unique by serving only fresh, never-frozen ground beef in our signature hamburgers, and by offering a wide variety of food options. I have had the opportunity to welcome many smiling faces into my restaurant, and it has been a joy to serve our community. In the coming years, I hope to solidify our restaurant as a second home to our customers, just like Plano became a second home to me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a new business is a big challenge that requires passion, ideas, critical thinking, and on top of everything, money. I spent copious amounts of time doing research on the steps needed to open a business, maintaining it, and ensuring that it is successful. In addition, my parents provided the financial support I needed to start my business. Without them, I could not have made this dream come to life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In 2001 I graduated in Marketing & Business Management bachelor’s degree from University of Tirana, Albania. Since then, I have always worked in my field of study for almost 15 years. It has been an interesting professional journey for me working for different big and successful companies or institutions like Albanian Radio Television, American Bank, and for a couple of small businesses. While in the US I have worked for Collin College and for Bajaria CPA office that really helped me to a have a better grasp of bookkeeping, managing, and analyzing the business. Also, I have been so lucky to have worked with many wonderful people who have supported and guided me all the time I needed help,

Now that I have my own business looks like I have to combine all my knowledge and work experiences and apply them toward the success and achievements of my restaurant.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’m a firm believer that a strong support system is the foundation of success in every aspect of life. I am blessed to have a wonderful family and friends who have helped me throughout the process of opening my business. Whether it be providing helpful ideas to make operations more efficient in the business or simply being there for emotional support during the frustrating moments, my friends and family deserve immense credit in helping my dreams come true.
