Conversations with Alesha Lofton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alesha Lofton.

Hi Alesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey as an Independent Adjuster during the wake of Hurricane of Harvey after being laid off from Cigna Group Insurance due to outsourcing to India. My cousin, Tabitha Gamble, consistently persuaded me over the years to obtain my Texas Adjuster License. I thought I would retire from Cigna; but God had other plans.

After waiting four months for my Texas Adjuster license to be issued to me due to Hurricane Harvey, I finally received my license. My 1st catastrophe deployment would be Hurricane Florence in September of 2018 working auto total loss claims as a Desk Adjuster.

Growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I always wanted to be a teacher. I earned my associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees; however, no doors ever opened for me to work in the Independent School Districts or Universities. God would later reveal that He had bigger plans for my dreams of being a teacher. In 2019, Dream Team 3 Adjusting Academy was born; however, I was still getting acclimated to being an Independent Adjuster. I continued to work various types of deployments and invest in trainings to be knowledge and resourceful as an Independent Adjuster and Education Provider.

How did I come up with the name? I am so glad that you asked! My role models that I look up to are my Heavenly Father; my brother Jesus; and the Holy Spirit that guides and protects me. The Holy Trinity makes up my “Dream Team 3.” I can’t do anything or be successful without them as the Head of my life and as the Head of my businesses.

Dream Team 3 Adjusting Academy is a passionate and dedicated Education Provider catering to men and women from all walks of life that we professionally prepare for deployment opportunities in the insurance adjusting industry.

My brand is “Your Adjuster Homegirl.” Your Adjuster Homegirl was born when I stepped up to lead the lost Adjusters, mainly minorities, on the steps they needed to get deployed. I started a group on Facebook and called myself “Your Adjuster Homegirl” because I am cool like that!

Dream Team 3 Adjusting Academy and Your Adjuster Homegirl presented at this year’s NACA conference in Las Vegas, NV. NACA is based out of Fort Worth, TX. NACA stands for National Adjuster Catastrophe Association. This is the biggest conferences of all adjuster conferences that provides the opportunities for Adjusters to interview with several Independent Adjusting (IA) firms under one roof, obtain Continuing Education (CE) hours, learn new skills, and network with new and veteran Adjusters from all over the map. We look forward to presenting at the 2024 NACA Conference that will be held in Reno, Nevada, from January 21, 2024, through January 25, 2024, at the Grand Sierra Resort.

Your Adjuster Homegirl (me) is also a radio show host on WDRB Media, the voice of the community. The only station giving you double the inspiration and information. WDRB Media is a nationally syndicated radio broadcaster. My show, “Adjust Your Conversation,” airs every Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. central standard time. I love to feature our Adjusters, Mentees, Business Owners, Musical Artists, and more. I have a special segment titled “McLain’s Finest,“ which shines the spotlight on those who graduated from McLain High school in Tulsa, OK that are doing great things. McLain has always carried a negative image in the press and my mission is to reflect a positive image. I graduated as the Valedictorian of the McLain’s graduating class of 1997. iPhone users can listen to my show on Apple Music. You can also download and listen on the following apps: Streema, RadioSeed, and TuneIn. Alexa can also play WDRB Media for you or visit https://WDRBmedia.com and click on the “Listen Live” logo. Giving back to those less fortunate than me has always been a part of my DNA.

I had my first outreach experience in Camp Fire. The hospitality and outreach ministries in church are the ministries that I am dedicated to because it’s how I like to serve God’s people. I was inspired to create my project called “Mature Angel Tree” when my mother was in hospice. I adopt a nursing home every year that has a high number of neglected residents and make their Christmas needs and wishes come true. What I mean by neglected is that they have no family or their family does not come to see about them. For those who participate, they are assigned a resident and they will purchase the things they need and want for Christmas. A few days before Christmas, we deliver the gifts and spend time with the residents.

Since 2012, I have walked the streets of Downtown Dallas with my church to minister to, feed and provide for the homeless. We would only stay a limited time and head back to church for service. I wanted to stay longer; therefore, my family and I started going on our own. Although it feels good to give back to those in need, I never had enough of my own money and support to take care of more nursing home residents and homeless individuals or families. God is so AMAZING! I am proud to introduce, “Get Back Up Again Foundation,” my non-profit organization.

Mission: “Assisting individuals from all walks of life with getting over their past mistakes by transforming into a renewed mindset, allowing them to operate in their purpose.”

Being a Servant Leader is near and dear to my heart when it comes to serving those in needs, such as the homeless, veterans, neglected nursing home residents, victims of domestic violence and helping inmates turn over a new leaf and be productive citizens. We are getting ready for our Mother & Father’s Day celebrations as we shower homeless mothers and fathers with love on those days.

I wrote my 1st play in the 5th grade that was performed in front of an audience. I am currently a student of Acting Coach, Kelly Gray and Actor Lance Nichols. I have been a part of two movies as an extra, “Heavy” and “Shadows of My Past.” I am preparing for two extra opportunities with Legacy Casting and I am also preparing for some upcoming auditions. I wanted to learn what it is like to be on set as an extra before diving into a speaking role.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a business as a minority black woman is never easy, and it has its challenges. Philippians 4:13 says that “I can do ALL things through CHRIST who STRENGTHENS me!” God can open doors that no man or woman can shut. God will send me the right people at the right time to bring my dreams and mission into existence. God can bless me with opportunities that I am not QUALFIED for! God is just the bomb like that!

The adjusting industry is a male-dominated industry and predominantly white-dominated industry. Minorities did not know about this hidden gold mine for decades; however, I tell everyone I know about this industry every chance that I get because it is life-changing. A few of our students came to me homeless or on the verge of eviction. They are now homeowners!

I found that many people are intimidated by a strong, black educated woman as myself that stands up for what is right. I am not afraid for my voice to be heard, and for those reasons, many will not allow me work to for them as an Independent Adjuster, especially in a Trainer or Team Leader Role or alongside them. However, it is their loss. I create awesome Servant Leaders and produce Allstar Adjusters, which is very beneficial to many IA firms and insurance carriers to meet and exceed customer service expectations and settle claims in a timely manner.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Servant Leader, Game Changer, The Harriet Tubman of Adjusting, Education Provider, Mentor, Life Coach, DJ 918, Caterer, Radio Show Host, Body Contouring Specialist, Mobile Notary Signing Agent, Your Adjuster Homegirl, Motivational Speaker and Inspiring Actress & Writer.

I specialize in transforming lives.

I am known for being a Servant Leader and Role Model that leads by example with integrity. You are able to come to me for inspiration, motivation, encouragement, advice, life coaching, prayer, and a career change.

I am most proud of coming from gangs and being a teen mother to the woman God created me to be today. I am blessed to be able to utilize my God-given gifts and talents with the world.

What sets me apart from others is that I truly care about people and helping them achieve their goals. I don’t see dollar signs. I see people that need me in their lives, and I do the very best that I can to give them hope, encouragement, and guidance.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The characteristics that I feel are the most important to my success is my passion for God and his people; being transparent, caring, loving, passionate, humble, customer service oriented, empathetic, and understanding; utilizing interpersonal, solid communication, time management, strategic planning, organizational, critical and analytical skills. I do not take things personal, in which I had to grow tough skin over the years to achieve this goal. I have to be open to receive constructive feedback to turn my weaknesses into strengths. Doing what I say I will do and being consistent. I am approachable, and most of all, I have an outgoing personality with a beautiful smile to match! I am pretty funny, too with an accent that I can’t explain! You can hear a mixture of country mixed with Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana that people get a kick out of! Stay tuned for another announcement that will be coming soon in Jesus mighty and wonderful name. Amen and Amen.
