Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Alise.
Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Alexandra Alise. A Cali native and creative that came to Texas and started a new chapter of life. Just a year into my marriage and after heartbreak of miscarriages. I decided to pursue joy. Joy in the present, remembering the past and looking forward to the future. I find humor in everyday living of being a wife, mother, corporate boss and a theatre kid at heart. As a millennial we’ve gone through too much to not stop and reflect and see how far we’ve come. As an artist and creative my art reflects the times. So it’s a mixture of corporate, marriage and parenthood humor. I’m at the age where I believe life keeps getting better. So for the plot, I gotta run on and see what the end is going to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Miscarriages, Depression, being mostly alone in a new state in a new marriage. The pandemic, then finding out our son had autism were things that tried to break me and the family. We are still navigating a lot of it but God, humor, appreciation and realizing others are championing these similar issues really helps us. The online love I’ve received, has invigorated my creativity and love of acting, humor and just being free to be myself. I want everyone to be free to be themselves in whatever form they’re in right now. It gets better even if it feels like it’s not.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am millennial’s millennial. I embrace it and also don’t take myself that serious. I’m relatable to a lot of people a bit overweight, a mom that struggles with the balance of work and home life, a Christian that loves God and is churchy but also loves a good twerk session.
I’ve seen people relate to how us millennials are navigating this new era of life. We’re the adults now!! When a lot of us may not have even believed we make it this far.
So when I do work humor of Unannounced Teams calls to some of the 99- and the 2000’s jams, a lot of people can relate!
When I do a jingle about taking care of aging parents and all their maximalist stuff people can relate!
And when I do a full voice singing stim session to decompress when my husband comes home from work, married people relate!
When I talk about barely making it to the bathroom when you get home after your bladder bluetooths to the toilet, people can relate!
I love this stage of life of embracing age, parenthood, and the everyday battle of trying to better the world around us with love and humor.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I wish I started sooner. Being afraid of being accepted stopped late in life for me. If I were talking to younger me or someone just starting out with content creation, I would say don’t be afraid to be bare. Don’t be afraid to be honest, raw and free. You just may free someone else that is feeling alone. Relatability is currency in more ways than you think!
