Hi Alexis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Alexis Berry, I am the author of Behind the Badge: 7 Keys for Correction Officers to Reduce Stress and Preserve Mental Health. I’ve always knew I wanted to be an author, but this book came about a year ago when I moved to Houston, TX to be a Correction officer at Harris County and I’ve notice in the Law Enforcement Industry that there’s not a lot of books or topics about Mental Health for Officers, so I wrote a book about Mental Health for Officers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Writing a book has its up and down. I had more doubts throughout the process because I feel like no one will want to read a book from a Rookie Officer. I feel like I’m not a teacher and yes, I’m obtaining my bachelor’s in psychology, that I’m not qualified, and I don’t have near enough experience as other Officers I know.

I am an Author/ Coach. I specialize in helping others reduce stress and preserve Mental Health while working a job. I am known for my book Behind the Badge: 7 Keys for Correction Officers to Reduce Stress and Preserve Mental Health. I am proud of spreading awareness for Mental health. What set me apart from others, I am a Mental Health Advocate.
What makes you happy?
Spending time with my family and friends makes me happy, because they bring me joy at the end of the day, and I always grew up around my family.
