Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexus Barkley.

Alexus Barkley

Hi Alexus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started with a dream. And before you roll your eyes, and deem this a cliche, that is literally how it started.

During my freshman year at UNT I was having a tough time adjusting. Growing up as a minority in a small, mainly white, town, paved my way through adolescence striving to be the best in everything I was involved in. A big fish in a small pond you could say. But reality smacked me in the face when I moved to Denton and had the realization that maybe I wasn’t as special as I thought I was. There were so many people who looked like me, were smarter than me, had more talent then I did. I felt lost. I originally went to school for fashion merchandising but quickly realized that it was not the track for me, but a semester in, I didn’t know where to turn.

Enter the dream. After debating what major to switch to with multiple sets of friends I fell asleep one night, not knowing that I would finally have direction in my life when I woke up. In this vivid dream, I was a wedding planner. Which if you knew me at the time, seemed completely random. But upon waking I knew, this was a clear sign from God to trust Him. So that’s what I did.

I didn’t know how I was going to achieve this feat. I didn’t know anyone in the events or wedding industry, but I trusted that if that’s where God wanted me that is where I would end up. Fast forward to 2020, the pandemic is ensuing, but I get engaged to my then boyfriend, now husband, Connor Barkley. Within 9 months I had planned and executed my dream wedding like it was my full time job (with the help of key friends of course). And the main thing, I had so much fun! Through the entire planning process I felt calm and collected and focused on what truly mattered, the beginning of my marriage.

After the wedding is when I knew. I was born to do this. I threw myself into any opportunity I could to get connected to the wedding industry and eventually landed a job at a small wedding planning business. After a few years there my husband and I got the best news, we were going to become parents! Now with a little one in mind, I had new choices to make. The Lord had already shown me that He had plans for me, would I trust Him again? I felt a calling to transition to a new company with two of my co-workers, Lauren Hackett and Georgette Poole, who were like soul sisters to me. After my daughter was born, I fully joined the company, Plan Revelry, and locked into what God had been preparing me for all along. In the first year I was surpassing goals and getting opportunities that I could not have even dreamed of. This was my dream, connecting with people, and getting to use my creativity in so many ways.

Then in the summer of 2025 I felt that urge from God again, to share the joys of my life, motherhood, and my work with others. Thus my content creation journey began. In the past few months I have created a community with other moms and brands who crave authentic content and genuine relationships! As for what’s next, I’m keeping my eyes and my heart open, ready for what God has in store for me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have faced a few challenges along the way.

I was working at a bridal boutique in my Senior year of college when Covid hit.
At that point, all of my career avenues (film degree, minor in theatre, wedding planning), depended on in person gatherings and that was the one thing we had to refrain from to stay safe. Then my dad passed away from Covid in April of 2020. On top of feeling unsure in my life, now I was wrestling with grief in isolation. It was a very trying time for me, but I think I leaned into my faith more than ever. And I’m glad I did, because now I can see how circumstances I couldn’t fathom were redeemed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a luxury wedding planner! I come alongside brides and their families to make planning and executing their dream day a stress free process. I would say that I’m known for my bubbly personality and ability to make everyone feel calm and collected, especially in high stress situations. Before motherhood I would list accolades that made me proud, but now I’m the most proud of how I’ve balanced being a working mom & wife, and the example that I’m setting for my daughter. Now that I’ve added content creation to the mix I love showing the real and raw side of juggling motherhood & my work life. I hope that when people work with me or watch my content they feel a sense of joy.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a kid my family would always take a vacation in the summer. I loved when we would go to the cabins and spend the weekend swimming, grilling, and just being in nature.
