Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexza Maldonado.
Hi Alexza, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a licensed Cosmetologist. I specialize in hair and makeup. My love all started for this career back in elementary! My mom would do my ponytails too tight, and my dad would do them loose, so there goes me, trying to do it myself. I would look through my mom’s bags and cabinets in search of lipstick. This is my passion. My love. My everything. This is all I have. I’m talented in my field. It is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I pray and thank God for allowing me to choose my path by simply being able to uplift and see others’ faces by touching their hair or doing their makeup.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, it’s a very bumpy road, I shall say. Only because I go by faith. I know that my work is amazing but I have a lot of good weeks and a lot of bad weeks, as it is not consistent enough financially. With inflation, it’s been harder for sure! But I believe in my talent, and I know that God wouldn’t let me fail.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in hair and makeup. As in balayage, haircuts, vivid colors, blondes, and natural gland or pop of colors! Everyone says that I have the magic hand because their hair grows quicker. Being able to see the joy in people’s faces after their service is what brings me joy. The connection that I build just by transforming someone is incredible!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m not sure if there’s anything surprising to me. I have green eyes. I’m from Houston. I’m Mexican? I’m funny? I love horror movies. I love Nikes.
