Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Behrens.
Hi Amber, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for health. When I was pregnant with my first child I stepped away from my full-time job. It was a massive step of faith. As I got freedom from my career, I began to see that I was gifted to be creative with food and bring events to life. My mentor had spoken to me about meal prep and my husband and I stepped out to create it. Little did I know, as I dug into my family history I actually come from a long line of chefs. When we began the company my passion for health and gifting to create food blended to create a wonderful meal prep company called Provision Pantry. We started our first week with 15 meals out of a rented food truck. After 3 years of business, we have been blessed to grow into a full-time facility and regularly cater beautiful events of all sizes, have a weekly meal prep company sent all over the Tulsa area, and have just started a juice company to blend health and convenience. We are very excited about the future and know that we were created to serve.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle was stepping away from the security of a full-time job, especially being a provider for my family. At first, it seemed unfathomable, but as we have grown in faith, we have been able to witness incredible doors open and learned to never say no to opportunities. Each level of growth has made our footing more firm to step higher as we continually expand our businesses. We make a point not to highlight struggles, but always believe there is a solution somewhere to be found. We are adamant to stay confident that what we are doing will be completed regardless of the size of the task.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The biggest thing that sets me apart is my desire to heal people with food. I am a firm believer in a balanced meal–not a quick weight loss program. In my youth I had this completed flipped and I’ve been fortunate to grow and see that food isn’t an enemy but a tool if used and understood. As far as work goes, I am most known for my graze-style spreads. I have created massive tables on down to individual graze cups that are as unique as the guest I get to serve. Our company uses only the freshest of food that is unique and timely for each job. We want to make sure that every bite and display is amazing down to the last grape. Provision Pantry has adapted as we’ve grown to waste as little food as possible. Each job is meticulously ordered so that everything is fresh and not frozen or canned. This has set us apart in taste, appearance, and sustainability.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diversity of the city. It’s a blessing to meet and serve people from all walks of life. The least liked thing about the city is how big and spread out everything is. All stops are at least 30 minutes apart not counting traffic.
