Conversations with Angie Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Johnson.

Angie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I first learned about professional photography in 5th grade at a summer camp. Since then, I’ve loved capturing moments big or small. Freshman year of college, I started taking it seriously by doing shoots for friends and events. Eventually, I was being paid for graduation photos and covering events on campus. Now I have found my niche and am working to photograph in the music industry covering concerts, music video stills, album covers, etc.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to being a professional has been inconsistent. Starting out, I was a student, and my priority was my studies so I could not devote much time to photography. But my love for it was always there, so I used my free time to learn and develop my skills. After graduating, I had to move home due to the pandemic and I felt like I lost my clientele. It has been difficult making a name for myself as a photographer, but with the support of family and friends, I have been able to start shooting again. It has absolutely been a rough road, but I am looking forward to where I am heading.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer that specializes in portrait and event photography. I have photographed charity events, sporting events, baby showers, and concerts. I am truly passionate about concert photography because it combines my two loves, music and photography. I am also known for being a film photographer. The first cameras I learned about were film cameras, and I still shoot with them today. I am most proud of my willingness to put myself out there. Doing this created the opportunity for me to photograph one of my favorite artists in concert. I believe what sets me apart are the moments I choose to capture. During events, I constantly look to capture the once-in-a-lifetime moments that people will always want to look back on.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
In whatever you choose to do, always keep going.
