Conversations with April Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to April Rodriguez

Hi April, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started in 2019, when I had tried every fad diet out there, listened to every health “guru”, and was still (frustratingly) stuck. I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s which is a disease that makes my body attack my thyroid gland. This attack damages the thyroid and causes the metabolism to slow down, making life miserable. Not only does it make weight loss a massive challenge, but it also comes with symptoms that really dig into quality of life. Looking for solutions in the fitness industry led to many dead ends. I decided to do my own research, get my own credentials, and take myself through some root cause protocols that put my Hashimoto’s into remission. I decided to start taking on some clients in 2022 and they were getting awesome results too (without any crazy restriction – they were still enjoying treats!). Before I knew it, TeamArodFitness was in full swing and we have worked with over 400+ women with Hashimoto’s now!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to get here hasn’t been smooth. Business has a funny way of throwing you some less than desirable curveballs! Through thick and thin, you can find me praying and surrendering it all to God. I’d say that some of our biggest struggles have been navigating rapid growth and strategically hiring the right people. With that said, sometimes we have to also fire people – and that’s not easy either! We are very much mission driven and want to serve these women who come to us in a real way, and that means that every move we make needs to be strategic and heart centered.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As the face of TeamArodFitness, it’s easy to get caught up in the business and sometimes I lose myself. I have to remind myself that the version of me from just a handful of years ago is the woman I now strive to serve. I specialize in helping women with Hashimoto’s find their stride again! I help them weed out all the noise on the internet telling them to “eat this!” or “don’t eat that!”, or “carbs are bad!” and I help them find the right salutation for them that’s also sustainable. I’m a mom, I have 3 little kids, and I understand the mom who says she doesn’t want to make 2 different dinners for her family – so we teach her how to reach her goals while eating the same things her family is eating. We’re different from other companies out there because our program isn’t restrictive, it’s realistic, root cause focused, and very hands on / custom to each individual.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love listening to audiobooks and podcasts! Peter Attia and Stephen Cabral have great podcasts. I also really enjoy Sam Miller’s podcast. I read my Bible daily and that helps set the tone for my day, but you can also find me relaxing and unwinding with a good book!

Pricing:

  • I get asked about pricing a lot, and because my program is completely customized to each client, I don’t have pricing listed! We determine pricing on a free strategy call once someone applies.
