Today we’d like to introduce you to Arpita Goel.
Hi Arpita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
MishtyBakes actually means – Baking something sweet😊
It was born during the Covid Era when only the humans were under lockdown behind the four walls, and it pretty much felt like being caged in our own nest 😉.
I was bored and was unable to go back to work as a Software Professional.
But one day, I had my Eureka moment. My eyes sparkled, had adrenalin gushing through the body, and I felt supercharged to do something.
I decided to make my 1st ever-fondant-covered cake for my daughter’s 2nd Birthday.
It was a Farm Themed cake with all fondant toppers to be made from scratch. It was a daunting task, and I realized that I had chewn a much larger bite than my appetite. But as we say family comes to rescue. They did, indeed.
My sister and mom were visiting us then, and they were a big help in executing and realizing my dream cake which I wanted to make for my kid.
Since then, there was no turning back.
Thus, we embarked on our journey of Mishty Bakes to spread joy, cheer, happiness, and good cakes for the human palettes from our humble abode – the apartment kitchen, a simple gas range oven, and my mom’s go-to sponge cake recipe at hand.
MishtyBakesLLC is in its true essence – a homebaker’s dream come true.
I can proudly say that I am a self-taught baker and have reached where I am because of my family, friends, and clients’ support, honest feedbacks, appreciations, and constructive criticism.
For that, I would be eternally grateful & forever indebted to all those who have helped me in my journey, and I hope n wish to travel many more miles with many more hands joining in.
My name is Arpita Goel. I am:
-a Baker,
-a Cleaner,
-a Packer,
-a Marketing Manager,
-a Social Media Manager.
In short, I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR.
Basically, I feel I’m a one-woman army but with a twist …It’s not I; it’s actually we; we are a team.
There is a man behind all this who has my back all the time. He is my friend, philosopher, guide. He is an artist, a brainstormer, a helper, and whatnot, you just name it, and he is- he is none other than my husband.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every work, every field has its own set of challenges which I’m sure you might agree with. However, the roads are not always straight. They are in fact bumpy, curvy, uphill, downhill, and so on. They also have pit holes which are an integral part yet very much necessary in order to appreciate the smooth ride we enjoy. We kept our eyes on the prize and relentlessly kept at it, and today we are a registered company ©MishtyBakesLLC.
Since you insist about knowing the struggles, I could share a few instances which might give you a sneak peek into my world.
• Making a paradigm shift from Software Profession to Baking was not as easy as it looks. It always raised eyebrows and questions, but deep down I knew that I was on the right track for a simple reason that I enjoyed working as a baker even with its fair share of shortcomings. Yet it didn’t feel like I was working. I guess I found my calling.
• So, I am a “HOME” BAKER, and our cakes are crafted at home with all the love and care. But the clients tend to compare our handmade products with the store-bought ones.
We need to understand that the store has machines and labourers whereas we are our own help. So, it becomes really challenging to explain to the clients as to why and how our products differ from the stores’ because the efforts we put in cannot be seen by the client. They just receive the end product like they get from any other store.
They don’t get to see the hours which we actually invest to curate their order so that their special occasion becomes even more memorable with our little input in the form of a cake, cupcake, cookie, or whatever it is they requested us to create for them.
• We take extra care and mindfully source our materials, check for the highest quality, store them carefully, use them judiciously, and maintain the aesthetics at the same time.
When you look at it that way, you realize how much attention is paid to the smallest of details and what all goes in so that you get your expected output.
• And all this comes at a price. We try to do justice for the clients as well as for ourselves so that it’s a win-win situation. No one should feel they have been deprived or duped. I wish that everybody should be happy at the end. The maker, that’s us, the consumer, i.e., the client and the guests who eat what we created for them.
• So, I hope that all those who are a part of the process should be remunerated aptly.
We are happy with our pace and would like to continue this journey on the very same road.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So, @MishtyBakesLLC, we can proudly say that we make most of our products from scratch. We do all kinds of desserts like Customized Cakes, cupcakes, themed cookies, cake pops, cakesicles, etc. that too for all occasions.
We do specialize in fondant toppers (as realistic as possible) and Buttercream based creations.
Recently we added Entremets to our collection.
Our Fusion Signature flavors that we offer brings back the taste from my home country.
I could name a few – paan, ras malai, gulab jamun, …
-We offer Paan Cake a.k.a Betel Leaf Cake which is made from fresh Betel leaves, red rose petal jam with a dash of mint, and has a cooling mouthfeel.
It’s a party in your mouth, is what I can say about this flavor.
-Ras-malai cake is inspired from our popular homeland dessert ras malai which is also a big crowd pleaser.
-Butterscotch & Fresh Fruit Cakes are also a big hit among our clients.
A special mention about our Buttercream that we use is made from scratch and has a perfect balance of sweetness.
It is Lightly sweetened, hits the precise sweet notes in your mouth, and we often receive compliments for it.
We are really proud of where we have reached today, and every time we see a happy recipient we do a little happy dance as heart swells with joy, just like the cake we baked.
We feel accomplished. We feel that we have arrived somewhere not exactly the destination but yeah progressing with every passing day.
Cheers… 🙂
