Today we’d like to introduce you to Arthur Borges.
Hi Arthur, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born in Brazil, Arthur Borges began his career capturing the vibrant underwater world along the world’s oceans. His early work focused on marine ecosystems, shipwrecks, and coral reefs, blending scientific curiosity with visual storytelling.
After years beneath the surface, he felt drawn to explore above ground. A solo trek through the Colorado mountains sparked a shift—he transitioned to work both under and above water with landscape photography, driven by a desire to document the wild and remote places shaping the planet.
Now based in Texas while exploring the world, he focuses on adventure photography. His work captures the raw beauty of mountains, deserts, and forests—often integrating human explorers into vast natural backdrops.
He uses photography to ask: How do we relate to the wild? What happens when we step out of routine and into the unknown?
His photos have appeared in underwater publications and company social channels, and he often offers classes and workshops around the world
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a photography business while working a 9-to-5 job is always tough.
Time is limited. You squeeze shoots, edits, and client meetings into evenings and weekends and try to plan your explorations on the vacations period
Burnout is real. Balancing work, creative energy, and personal life takes a toll.
Growth is slow. You can’t take every opportunity or market consistently.
Gear and expenses add up. You’re funding the business from your paycheck.
Doubt creeps in. It’s easy to question if the effort is worth it.
But each small win—a paid shoot, a happy client, a printed photo—keeps you going.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My adventure photography stands out because it’s personal, raw, and grounded in real experiences.
I don’t just capture landscapes—I capture the feeling of being out there.
My images reflect moments of effort, solitude, and discovery.
I try to bring a storyteller’s eye shaped by my journey from underwater to remote land terrains.
My love for photography offers others more than visuals:
It invites them to see the world with curiosity.
It reminds them of the value of being present.
It sparks the courage to explore beyond comfort.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID crisis reshaped my approach to adventure photography. Here’s what it taught me:
Slowing down adds depth. With travel limited, I learned to explore nearby places more intentionally.
Connection matters. Isolated landscapes gained new meaning—reminding me of the need for human connection, not just solitude.
Flexibility is key. Canceled plans and changing rules forced me to adapt quickly, a skill that now makes me more agile on shoots.
Purpose over likes. Time away from the spotlight helped me reconnect with why you started—telling honest stories, not chasing trends.
Nature heals. I saw firsthand how time outdoors supports mental clarity and balance—something my work can help others feel too.
