Hi Aubrie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Aubrie. I am the owner of Face by Aubrie. I specialize in bridal and editorial make up as well as custom wispy lash extensions. I have been in the bridal industry for almost 10 years and a lash artist for almost 4 years. Whether it be application for a wedding, photo shoot engagement photos or prom, I’m so excited to be a part of it. When I was younger, my mom used to take my siblings and I to Barnes & Noble to buy books. While she browsed, I found myself engrossed in the health and beauty section, reading “Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty” and “Lauren Conrad Beauty” captivated by the makeup looks and techniques. Despite being too young for makeup, I pleaded with my mom to get me the books. On my 12th birthday, she surprised me with not only the books but also my first makeup kit from bareMinerals, I was over the moon. Late nights were spent practicing various makeup looks from each book. By the time high school rolled around, I was in demand for doing friends and classmates makeup for school dances, proms, and special events. I did my first wedding at 17 before I even had my driver’s license, realizing that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After college, I pursued cosmetology school, where I obtained my cosmetology license in 2020 and discovered a passion for lash extensions alongside mastering my makeup artistry. In 2022, I took a leap of faith and moved to the DFW area to focus on bridal makeup. This year marks my 10th year in the bridal industry and 4 years as a lash artist. I consider myself truly fortunate to create wearable art for my clients and to be able to play a role in making them feel confident and beautiful on their special day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Relocating to a city five hours away from my hometown, with no acquaintances or clients, presented a significant challenge. This situation pushed me beyond my comfort zone and ultimately inspired me to carve out my own unique space within the industry. I am genuinely thankful for this experience as it has played a crucial role in shaping the artist I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am recognized for my expertise in creating ethereal bridal makeup and crafting custom wispy lash extensions in the beauty industry. My greatest achievement is establishing a distinctive niche within the Lash and Makeup community, offering personalized techniques tailored to each client and their unique facial characteristics. Mastering this art enables me to cater to clients for various occasions such as weddings, photoshoots, or everyday beauty needs.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Beauty is diverse, and there has been a noticeable change in the beauty community towards tailoring services to individual clients and focusing on specializations to achieve more natural and subtle effects. I truly enjoy staying updated on trends and admiring the new creations by fellow artists for inspiration to enhance my craft. This allows me to offer fresh styles and services to my clients.
