Today we’d like to introduce you to Back Acre. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Bassist Connor and guitarist Graham played together in previous projects and created Back Acre in 2019 and recorded the first single ‘Loss’ that year. Our drummer Tim joined the team later in 2019, finishing what would be the permanent lineup until 2022. Casey, the 2nd guitarist, joined in September 2022, adding depth to the Back Acre family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
First and foremost, starting a band in 2019 and going into 2020 was difficult for obvious reasons. Not being able to perform shortly after forming for over a year was a pretty big blow to us, as it was for many others. We also have jobs and lives outside of the band, and even children for 2 of us. The conflicting schedules may make it troublesome sometimes, but it’s a labor of love.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We don’t think many bands sound like us! We cover a large spectrum of sounds from punk to post-hardcore to having ska breaks within a single song sometimes. We try to go beyond the norm for the subgenres that we touch on in our music.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Go to shows, be kind to people, and realize that everyone you meet within the music scene is working toward the same goals that you are. Talk to and connect with anyone you can!
