Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Thrift.
Hi Bailey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have a musical background that started several years ago. Growing up as a little girl, I took voice lessons and performed by singing in several talent shows in school and public shows. Starting at age 11 up until I was 18, I was in choir and continued performing by singing and learned how to play guitar, which I very much loved. When I was accepted into Baylor University for nursing, I started classes and dropped everything with music to focus on my studies. Over the years, I’ve always enjoyed hosting events and putting together playlist, playing my music for my friends and family. If I would go out for a night on the town, I was always fascinated by the DJ at different venues and paid close attention to the music they were playing; I thought it was so cool! Several years later, I now practice anesthesia putting patients to sleep for surgery. Needless to say, one morning, I woke up and decided to go purchase some DJ equipment from Guitar Center. The rest is history! Music is my passion, and I’m so thankful I found my way back into it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When learning any new skill, there are always ups and downs. I soon realized after I got my DJ equipment that I was going to eventually need some professional help to learn the ins and outs. Along the way, I spent a significant amount of time teaching myself from playing with the equipment and looking up YouTube videos. I would invite my friends over to DJ for them in my living room; they would call it “Club Bailey.” We always had a great time! This past year, I decided to dig in deeper and signed with the DJ School of Dallas to take classes. I spent 6 weeks in classes on learning how to become a DJ then we had a graduation at a venue is Dallas. It was all so much fun!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a DJ, I specialize in playing music for private events. These events include weddings, corporate events, private parties, etc. I work with my clients to get a picture of what they are envisioning and help them create the vibe they are looking for. I do have to say that in any situation, the music playing at any event will set the tone for the night. I have a questionnaire for my clients to fill out, which helps specify the genre of music they want played along with any other specific details that are important to them. I also meet with them periodically leading up to the event to cover all bases on important details. I have my own equipment that I bring to the events and do all the setup and breakdown. When it comes to music, DJ Remi has you covered!
What does success mean to you?
In my eyes, a successful DJ is one that possesses exceptional skills in music selection, mixing, and crowd engagement. They have a deep understanding of their audience and can read the room the create an atmosphere that resonates with their listeners. Additionally, a successful DJ is one who has strong work ethic, is reliable, and consistently delivers high-quality performances. They are also able to adapt to different environments and genres and possess a unique style that sets them apart from others in the industry. Ultimately a successful DJ is one who has build a loyal following and has established a reputable brand that is recognized and respected within the music industry. I also want to see anyone and everyone on the dance floor!
