Conversations with Billy Hartman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Hartman.

Billy Hartman

Hi Billy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I received my first guitar around the age of 12 or 13. Began writing music and playing shows few years after that. Went through bands from 18-24 and finally settled on just doing the songwriter thing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. There’s almost too many to mention in music. Jobs, women, partying, and of course monetary setbacks.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a songwriter. I write primarily “country/folk/blues” music, I guess. I’m probably known most for writing swings. I’m proud of both of the records I’ve put out. I’m not sure; that’s a question for someone else.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I’d like to see some change, but we’ll have to wait to find out.
