Conversations with Brentney Blair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brentney Blair.

Hi Brentney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started in aesthetics business in 2012. I was a Registered nurse at Baylor Operating room trauma. I thought by becoming a surgery room nurse I could work for a plastic surgeon, and he would train me to be an Aesthetic nurse. Well, I was mistaken, just like there is an influx of nurses wanting to become an Aesthetic nurse post covid, employers wanted two years’ experience, so I did research and found a two-day course, and that where my journey started. After that, I’ve invested around 75K in additional training on my own. I started The Botox Bar & Aesthetics in 2014 as a side hustle and it grew to a full-time in 2018. Now I have a PA-C Eva Tong Morris and other Nurses Jessica Martin RN and Megan Peevyhouse RN that work with in Dallas and Sherman, TX locations. We recently moved to a new location where we also offer Hair services like extensions, color, men and women’s cuts, and makeup and hair! We wanted to create a one-stop shop!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think when you open a business there will definitely be bumps in the road. The beauty business is expensive and competitive and the medical spa business even more so expensive. I have been self-funded business owner so sometimes not even taking a paycheck to pay my staff bonus or buy products or make improvements to the locations had to be done. Second challenge is finding a location that would allow medical aesthetics. Most commercial building still do not understand the business exactly so when we were on the hunt for a location, we received about 25 declines for leases. But we found a new location in the beautiful design district in Dallas.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
