Conversations with Brianna Manning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Manning.

Hi Brianna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In an era where personal development and mental health have taken center stage, I’ve been grateful to find my voice in the Christian life coaching industry. I’m Brianna Manning, the 25-year-old founder of Growing Testimony, and my work is rooted in a blend of academic excellence, athletic discipline, and deep-rooted faith. Together, these experiences have shaped how I help others overcome adversity and live purpose-driven lives.

My journey began early. I graduated high school at just 17, driven by a deep desire for growth and achievement. As a Division II collegiate athlete competing in both soccer and track, I learned how to perform under pressure while balancing demanding academic responsibilities. That same drive carried me through higher education. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology by age 21, followed by a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health, which I completed at 24 with a 3.95 GPA. Education has always been a cornerstone of my personal and professional growth.

“Education isn’t just about degrees,” I believe. “It’s about gaining the knowledge and tools needed to genuinely impact people’s lives.”

Throughout my academic journey, I was honored with a membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and received recognition from the Western Psychological Association for my undergraduate research on grit. These experiences not only affirmed my passion for mental health and resilience but also laid the foundation for the work I do today—helping others navigate healing, growth, and self-discovery with clarity and confidence.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overcoming Challenges: A Testimony of Resilience

My path hasn’t been without challenges. As a young, biracial woman in a field often dominated by older, more established professionals, I’ve faced skepticism and discrimination.

“I’ve often been looked down upon—as if I’m lying about my qualifications or don’t know what I’m talking about,” I share. “But those moments only strengthened my determination to prove my worth through my work and results.”

One of the most impactful challenges I’ve faced is what I call “church hurt.” During some of my most difficult seasons, I experienced rejection from my faith community when I reached out for help. Instead of allowing that experience to push me away from my faith, it inspired me to create a space where others could find the support and guidance I once needed.

My personal experiences with mental health have also deeply shaped my work. I’ve been misdiagnosed multiple times and told that I missed opportunities because of depression. While painful, those experiences gave me a deeper understanding of mental health care and reinforced the importance of accurate diagnosis, compassion, and individualized treatment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I took a leap of faith when I founded Growing Testimony, a Christian life coaching service created to bridge the gap between faith, mental health, and personal development. I saw a need for a holistic approach to life coaching—one that didn’t shy away from the spiritual aspects of growth.

“Growing Testimony is about nurturing the whole person,” I often explain, “mind, body, and spirit.”

My approach is shaped by a diverse background. I spent five years working as a registered behavioral therapist, gaining valuable clinical experience that informs my coaching practice today. Combined with my athletic background and strong faith, this allows me to offer a multifaceted, grounded perspective on personal growth and wellness.

The Growing Testimony Difference

What sets Growing Testimony apart is my commitment to authentic, holistic growth. My coaching emphasizes aligning actions with faith and values—a biblical principle I often describe as pleasing God over man.

“Too many people feel trapped by societal expectations or systems that don’t make room for unique thinkers,” I explain. “At Growing Testimony, I encourage clients to tap into their God-given potential and pursue their true calling—even when it goes against the grain.”

My coaching philosophy is rooted in several key principles:

1. Building confidence in wellness and sports performance

2. Promoting mental health awareness and management

3. Embracing one’s unique identity and gifts

4. Integrating faith into personal and professional development

5. Overcoming adversity through resilience and grit

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
The Future of Growing Testimony

While still in its early stages, Growing Testimony is positioned for meaningful growth. I envision expanding beyond coaching to establish a full counseling practice, supported by a diverse team equipped to serve a wider range of clients.

This vision aligns with my broader mission of becoming a growing testimony myself—continually learning, evolving, and sharing my journey to inspire others.

Impact and Recognition

Despite my young age, my work has already gained recognition. I’ve been featured in several publications, including spotlights on my undergraduate research on grit at Bellevue College, as well as recognition for my athletic achievements in the Northwest Athletic Conference.

“These acknowledgments are encouraging,” I say, “but they’re just the beginning. I’m committed to continuing my education and expanding my skills so I can better serve my clients and my community.”

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

For those hoping to follow a similar path, I offer this advice:

1. Embrace your unique perspective. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box—your experiences are your greatest assets.

2. Persevere through adversity. Challenges are opportunities for growth if you let them be.

3. Stay true to your values. Success means nothing if you compromise your integrity or faith.

4. Commit to lifelong learning. Stay curious and adaptable.

5. Build a supportive community. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and your vision.

The Road Ahead

As Growing Testimony continues to evolve, one thing is certain—this is only the beginning. With a foundation built on academic knowledge, lived experience, and unwavering faith, I am committed to helping others live purpose-driven, resilient lives.

“My journey is far from over,” I often say. “Every day, I’m growing, learning, and becoming a better version of myself. And that’s what I want for every client—an opportunity to grow, overcome, and become a living testimony of God’s grace and power.”

For anyone seeking growth, healing, and direction, Growing Testimony stands as a beacon of hope—where faith, mental health, and personal development walk hand in hand.
