Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Samford.
Hi Brittney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my planning company, Gathered Events, in 2018 after planning my own wedding and realizing how much I loved the creative process and logistics behind it. At the time, I was still working a full-time corporate job, but in that first year alone, I planned 32 weddings on the side, which was a huge learning curve and also confirmed that this was the path I wanted to pursue full time.
After that first year, I left my corporate role and focused completely on building and refining the business. Over time, I began to shift from high-volume planning to a more intentional, high-touch approach focused on elevated design and experience. The 2020 shutdown actually became a pivotal turning point, it gave me the space to rework my systems, grow my team, and refine our offerings. That evolution positioned us to enter the luxury market, expand into destination work, and truly curate weddings that feel thoughtful, personal, and artful.
Today, our principal team focuses on a limited number of full-service clients each year, while our associate team serves other couples with the same high standards. It’s been an incredible journey, one built on passion, continuous growth, and the desire to create meaningful celebrations that reflect each couple’s story.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say it’s definitely been a rewarding journey, but not always a smooth one. In the beginning, juggling a full-time corporate job while planning 32 weddings on the side was intense, I learned quickly how much organization, stamina, and adaptability the business would require.
Another big challenge was transitioning into the luxury market. It required refining our processes, elevating our design approach, and really thinking about how to deliver a high-touch, personalized experience. The 2020 shutdown was another unexpected hurdle, weddings were paused, vendors were uncertain, and we had to pivot quickly. But it ended up being a pivotal moment because it allowed me to revamp systems, build my team thoughtfully, and focus on what makes Gathered Events unique.
Overall, I’ve learned that the challenges often lead to the most growth. Every struggle taught me something about running a business, managing clients and vendors, and creating a team that can deliver on a shared vision.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Gathered Events, we specialize in full-service luxury wedding planning and design. We focus on creating celebrations that are thoughtful, elevated, and deeply personal to each couple. My team and I handle everything from concept development and design to timelines, vendor coordination, and execution, essentially, we take the stress off our clients so they can truly enjoy their engagement and wedding day.
What we’re most known for is our ability to combine high-touch planning with elevated design. Every wedding we do feels curated, intentional, and reflective of the couple’s story, rather than following trends or cookie-cutter ideas. We take care of the details that often go unseen, so the overall experience feels seamless, effortless, and beautiful.
What I’m most proud of is the growth and evolution of the business, building a team that shares my vision, and helping couples celebrate in a way that truly feels like them.
What sets us apart is the combination of strategic planning, meticulous organization, and a creative, design-forward approach. We not only manage logistics with precision, but we also elevate the aesthetic and emotional experience. It’s that blend of heart, design, and flawless execution that makes Gathered Events distinct.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
1. Technology & data‑driven planning
The adoption of AI, VR/AR, and advanced planning platforms is accelerating. We’ve been integrating these tools into our workflows to enhance efficiency, creativity, and the client experience.
2. Experience, authenticity & personalization win
Couples increasingly want weddings that reflect who they are, not just what’s trending. Every element—theme, décor, location, food, and guest flow—is curated to feel deeply personal. Multi‑day celebrations, destination events, and immersive guest experiences are becoming the norm, particularly in the luxury market, where couples view weddings as memorable occasions rather than “just one day.”
3. Sustainability, values & inclusive design
Sustainability is no longer a “nice extra.” Eco‑friendly décor, responsible sourcing, conscious food choices, and mindful transportation are now expectations. Inclusive design—ensuring all guests feel considered—is also becoming a critical standard in luxury events.
