Today we’d like to introduce you to Cambry Payton.
Hi Cambry, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began in The Woodlands, Texas, an amazing community where I spent my first 20 years. The Woodlands was not just my hometown; it was the backdrop of my early dreams and aspirations. However, the path I chose was anything but conventional, filled with challenges that tested my resolve and ultimately led me to a fulfilling career in cosmetology. The first major decision in my journey came when I resolved to pursue my GED. This was not merely a step toward a diploma, but a leap of faith into a world of possibilities—specifically, a career in cosmetology, which had always fascinated me. However, this decision did not come without its trials.
One of the darkest periods of my life occurred when I lost my mother. Her passing was a devastating blow that left a profound void in my heart. Yet, in the midst of sorrow, I found solace and strength in my family. Their unwavering support helped me navigate the complexities of grief, providing me with the encouragement I needed to press on. Coupled with the power of prayer, I was able to channel my pain into determination.
With my family by my side, I completed my GED and enrolled in cosmetology school. The journey was demanding, but I embraced every challenge, ultimately earning 23 certificates in various aspects of the beauty industry. Each certificate represented not just a skill, but a testament to my resilience and commitment to my passion.
Armed with my qualifications and a newfound sense of purpose, I made the bold decision to move to West Texas. This transition came at a particularly challenging time—the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. While many were retreating into uncertainty, I was eager to pursue my passion for teaching cosmetology. I believed that education could be a beacon of hope during these trying times.
It was in this new environment that I experienced another transformative moment: I met my now-husband. Our relationship blossomed against the backdrop of a world grappling with change, reminding me that love and connection can thrive even in adversity. Together, we navigated the ups and downs of life during the pandemic, forging a partnership that has been a source of strength for both of us.
After a impactful year in West Texas, we relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where we have now made our home for almost four years. This vibrant region has provided me with the opportunity to build a diverse and wonderful clientele. Each person I meet adds a unique thread to the tapestry of my life, filling my cup in countless ways.
As a cosmetologist, I have a deep-seated passion for making everyone feel beautiful and loved. I believe that beauty goes beyond physical appearance; it encompasses self-expression, confidence, and the joy of being valued. My work in the DFW area has allowed me to fulfill this mission, creating a welcoming environment where clients leave not just looking good but feeling uplifted.
My clientele has become more than just customers; they have transformed into a community of friends and supporters. Their stories, laughter, and shared moments have enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined. God has truly blessed me with connections that resonate deeply, reminding me that we are all part of something greater.
I am filled with gratitude for the experiences that have shaped me. The challenges I faced, including the loss of my mother, taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, love, and the importance of community. My passion for cosmetology continues to fuel my desire to uplift those around me.
With the support of God, my husband, family, and friends, I am excited to see where this journey takes me next. Each day presents an opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life, and that is a gift I cherish deeply. I look forward to continuing to spread love and beauty in every interaction, reminding everyone I encounter that they are deserving of both!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely not a smooth road The most challenging aspect was undoubtedly the people I encountered and the loss of my mother.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I absolutely love living in Fort Worth. This city is absolutely fantastic because it offers an incredible array of activities and is home to a community that is steeped in history. However, I must say that the traffic situation in Fort Worth is undoubtedly the most challenging aspect of residing here.
