Conversations with Carson Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Lewis.

Hi Carson, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
We started out as a band in San Jose, California in 2014. In the beginning, we were playing shows all over San Jose and the rest of the Bay Area, trying to spread our unique take on the reggae/rock genre. In 2022 we decided to relocate to the DFW area and try to spread our music to another part of the country. We are loving it out here so far. We have done a show at Four Bullets Brewery already and a few open mics. We have shown booked in the next coming months as well. Excited to really break into the scene in DFW and start playing as many shows as possible.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our biggest struggle along the way has been consistency. We have had inconsistencies with band members in the past, and it resulted in us taking far too many hiatuses. The pandemic also slowed down our progress. Right now, we are focused and want to consistently put out new music and perform for as many people as we can.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in playing music that “makes people groove.” That was our mission from the beginning: we want to get people out of their seats and get them dancing. Reggae/rock will always be the backbone that we are known for, but we can be quite versatile, with influences from other genres like soul, country, hip-hop, and blues. I myself and very proud of our newest single, “M L K’, which speaks on the message of Dr. Martin Luther King. Our most popular single to date is “All on You” which has gained over 25,000 streams on Spotify. I believe that our music stands out from the crowd in the sense that there is no cookie-cutter formula that we are trying to follow. We just are 100% ourselves, and I think we have a unique style that people pick up on and makes them want to join us for the ride. We like to keep our shows very engaging, and we have a great time connecting with the audience, Come on out and rock with us, baby!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory was shredding on Guitar Hero and thinking to myself, “maybe I could do this for real.”
