Conversations with Catherine White McIntosh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine White McIntosh

Hi Catherine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I guess I’ve always been a creative. Whether it was on the stage, in the dance studio, or in a choir. These days if I’m not in my studio you’ll find me in the kitchen or in the garden trying to create beauty for those around me.
I started painting full time about 8 years ago and have not looked back.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have struggled in the past to settle in on one medium or one style. I guess it is my actress background. I like to take on new roles, trying on different “hats”
I work in oils and acrylic on my larger pieces but then switch to watercolor for smaller, more detailed pieces.
I have come to the decision that it’s ok for me to make all different kinds of art!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My watercolor pieces are usually small and very detailed with my favorite subject matter being anything chinoiserie.
I paint large atmospheric landscapes and cloudscapes in oil.
I find inspiration from my childhood home of Miami and the Florida Keys and love to paint all kinds of birds and big blue skies or a beautiful sunrise/sunset.
I have collectors from coast to coast!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Fort Worth (and Dallas 😘)
Fort Worth is a fast growing city and has incredible art opportunities, museums, live theatre, and historic sites. And yet, for me it still feels like a small town, And if there is anything I can’t get or do in Fort Worth, Dallas is an easy drive away!
