Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathy Baldwin.
Hi Cathy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been writing songs for years and decided to study Music at UNT. After graduating I started teaching and performing. I eventually took a day time job which gave me more freedom to travel and promote my songs. Several of my songs got picked up by other artists and after being surplussed from my day time job, I decided to teach and write full time. I work with students on Guitar, Piano, Voice, Songwriting and Music Production. I have also had the privilege of writing with some of the top writers in Nashville – Dan Demay and Will Nance.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am now has not been smooth but it has been well worth every bump and puddle. There were many times I considered giving up but something always pushed me forward and for that I am very grateful. It wasn’t until after I had some of my songs cut by other artists that I realized how having others cut my song would propel my music. I have been very lucky overall despite the rough spots I’ve hit to get here.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently write and produce music as well as teach Piano, Guitar, Voice, Songwriting and Music Production. I love what I do and get great satisfaction from watching my students grow. I guess you could say I am known for my patience and unique ability to teach students and nurture their creativity.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My music is on CD BABY and You Tube. I hope to be releasing some new songs in the near future. I am also into Martial Arts and recently got my BlackBelt.
