Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrislyn Firth.
Hi Chrislyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started this business back in 2023 after working at numerous bakery jobs and falling in love with it all. After researching and slowly collecting the material to start my own business I started a page and started doing vendor events. After about a year of vendor events and personal orders I decided that I wanted to pursue this as a career, I enrolled into culinary school. Now a year into school and 2 years working on my business I can say I am at a good place with my business and constantly working to create better desserts.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, being a college student and working 2 jobs to be able to maintain everything in the rising economy has made it difficult to want to keep working. Working in vendor events you tend to have quite a few dessert businesses, you constantly have to change to ensure that you have something a little more unique than the next person. The main struggle was always the rising costs of ingredients like eggs and rising vendor prices to ensure you make profit. Growing C’s Creations is a constantly evolving business as I grow and learn.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my baked goods and desserts, especially my cinnamon rolls and cookies. I get most of my business from vendor events, I love making different things for each event and constantly changing my menu. I specialize more in desserts and pastries because that what I love to do and what I am learning about in culinary school. I am most proud of how far I have come as a business and the growth within the business as well as developing recipes like my cookies which I feel comes as muscle memory now. I think the biggest thing that sets me apart is my work ethic and my passion behind what I do and it shows in my desserts.
What’s next?
Plans for the future is for me to graduate and use my degree and certifications to land a job in the baking industry. I also plan to still attend community college after graduating and get a few more certifications. I am looking forward to being able to spend more time on my business and growing it, the only big changes may be what I sell. I am excited to see what the future has to offer for me and my business. I am hoping to travel more and be able to find more recipes and unique flavors to offer.
