Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Wei.
Hi Christina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My YouTube journey began long before my first video. I always dreamed of being a YouTuber ever since I was 13 years old, but just like everyone else, putting yourself on the internet is very scary! When my cosmetics business, Karache Kosmetics took off, I needed a creative escape. In March of 2020, I started to research the best strategies for growing on YouTube and learned a lot about how it works. Then in September 2020, I decided to take the leap and post my first video about my business journey. To my surprise, it gained a lot of attention and people loved my story! Within 17 days, I was monetized on YouTube and secured my first sponsorship the next month. Since then, I have created over 100 videos giving tips about entrepreneurship, daily vlogs and now taking on wellness/mindset. I’m so excited to share more content about becoming the best version of yourself and basically becoming a “big sis” to others. I’m an only child, so it’s like giving advice to my younger siblings but there’s over 33,000 of them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I grew very quickly and I’m very thankful for it. I’ve been able to make it a part of my full-time career for the past 2 years, but there have definitely been some bumps in the road. In the beginning of this year, I had lost my dad unexpected and it took a huge toll on my mental health. It definitely made me take a step back in my career. It was hard to show up online when you are struggling mentally. There were days and weeks that I couldn’t even think about picking up the camera. But it has gotten much better these past couple of months as I am slowly getting back to working and posting on YouTube! I’m excited to start sharing my new content and helping others that way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart! Aside from my business and YouTube channel, I have had a business mentorship subscription blog, social media agency, and most recently hosted a wellness event! I really do enjoy trying things and expanding my skills to find new passions. I was very successful in the entrepreneurial space and I’m so excited to make a name for myself in the wellness world. I’m so proud of myself for what I have been able to accomplishment on my own especially after not being able to get hired for a job after college. Which I now know was the biggest blessing in disguise because I love what I do and know my life would be completely different.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a very small town in New Mexico. Life was actually very difficult, I grew up seeing a lot of poverty, drugs, and abuse. My Mom being an immigrant always did the very best that she could, but I knew at a very young age with the things that I experienced, I wanted more for myself. So, I made sure to do well in school. I was a part of the honors club and student council. I did so well that my senior year in high school, I was able to be done with my classes in the morning, head to my college classes then went straight to work til 1 am. I was always so focused on the end goal which was achieving an amazing career, so in college, I took 18 credit hours while working 40 hours a week so that I could graduate in 3 years. I even took on 3 internships my last year, so that I could have some relevant work experience. Although my upbringing was hard I wouldn’t change a thing because it made me develop such an ambitious mindset which is why I think I have been so successful at such a young age. It was almost like I had no choice unless I wanted to be stuck in the environment, I grew up in which was not an option.
