Conversations with Christine Rangel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Rangel.

Hi Christine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
In 2019, a friend needed models for lash extensions. I jumped on the opportunity. Since then, every appointment I booked with her, I used as an excuse to absorb more information about the trade. She referred me to her lash school, where I enrolled In April 2019 and obtained my Specialty Lash License in November 2019. In February 2020, I decided to further my education and enrolled into an Esthetics Program to expand my services for my clients. The pandemic shifted every aspect of my life. I worked my full-time job from home; my school shifted to online study, my children were home-schooled. I eventually finished the program, graduated, and obtained my Esthetician state license in March 2021. In April 2021, I was able to quit my full-time job and dedicate myself to my Esthetics career. I rebranded to The Beauty Library Co., and I leased my very first suite in April. In September of 2021, I moved again. My service menu expanded to include waxing, facials, lash lifts, brow services. In December 2021, with the guidance of one of my mentors, I was able to host my very first lash class. Since then, I have been hosting monthly certification classes for aspiring lash artists and advanced volume artistry. I am preparing to expand into the retail world of lashing. I am a forever student and always looking to expand my knowledge in the beauty industry. I also host monthly book clubs and plan on networking events for existing and new business owners. I simply wish to be a vessel of support to others in this community.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a smooth road simply because I’ve conditioned myself to believe that failures are a part of the learning process. When business budgeting was not creating a profit for me, I tweaked my mistakes and learned from them. When clients were not respecting my policies, I learned to assertively communicate, enforce, and tweak as needed. Even in events where I have less control of outside circumstances, there are safety nets put in place, so if the road becomes more bumpy than expected, the impact will hurt less.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of The Beauty Library Co. LLC. I am a Licensed Esthetician who offers facials, waxing but specializes in Lash Extensions. I am also a Lash Trainer helping the next generation of lash artists achieve confidence the create their own financial security through a trade-based income. I am proud of owning my own suite that is used to bring together our community. The Beauty Library Co. is a safe place not just for beauty services but also for training, hosting bookclubs, or photoshoots. There is no wrong answer when all you want to do is help people feel supported.

What matters most to you?
Time, security, and peace of mind. Time is fleeting. I went into business with a goal of integrating my children into any business venture I invest in. Owning my own business has allowed me the flexibility to spend time with my children where it matters most. If I’m not able to take time off from work, they have the flexibility to spend that time with me. Security and peace are self-explanatory. I come from humble means, but I now know I am in charge of my own success. This is a motivator for creating financial security which in turn, brings me peace of mind.
