Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya and Tracy.
Hi Tonya and Tracy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Creatively Catered started in 2020, when celebrations looked different—but people still wanted to gather, feel cared for, and enjoy something truly special. We’re a women-owned business founded by two ladies who love really good cuisine and cocktails, and we saw an opportunity to create intimate experiences that still felt elevated, thoughtful, and well-executed.
Before we ever made it official, the foundation was already there. We’ve been friends since elementary school, and in the middle of busy life we decided to pause, breathe, and enjoy something good. We started trying out different places, sampling foods, beverages, and desserts—and at some point we looked at each other and thought, “We could do this.” (And yes… we meant it.)
A few years before we became official, we were unexpectedly asked to help with private events—and then even a wedding. We hesitated at first, but we said yes, and we were genuinely moved by the response. What surprised us wasn’t just how much people loved the food and drinks—it was how much they appreciated the way everything came together. That’s when we realized our gift wasn’t only in the kitchen; it was in creating a full experience—planning the flow, anticipating needs, and making the moment feel effortless for our clients.
Then COVID-19 entered all of our worlds, but it didn’t stop us. It pushed us to create celebrations that were more intimate and private, while still feeling elevated—“light bites and creative drinks,” yes, but also thoughtful planning and execution that helped people feel safe, cared for, and able to enjoy themselves.
Today, Creatively Catered serves the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and we also travel for events, including destination celebrations. Whether you need full-service planning or want to book catering, bartending, or décor separately, our goal is the same: unforgettable experiences crafted for you—where good taste meets great moments.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve loved the journey, but it hasn’t always been easy. Starting during the pandemic meant everything could change quickly—guest counts, vendor availability, timelines, and even ingredients and supplies. We had to stay flexible, problem-solve in real time, and still deliver something that felt elevated and dependable for our clients.
As we grew, one of the biggest lessons was learning how to scale without losing what makes us “us.” Great events don’t happen by accident, and neither does great food. So we built stronger systems behind the scenes—clear communication, detailed timelines, reliable staffing, and consistent service standards—so clients feel calm and confident from start to finish. And because many of our clients value privacy and discretion, we’ve learned to be especially intentional about professionalism, boundaries, and trust.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Creatively Catered is an event planning and wedding coordination company that can plan events from beginning to end—and we also offer catering, bartending, and décor/event setup as standalone services for clients who don’t need a full planning package. Our niche is intimate celebrations, milestone moments, and weddings that prioritize hospitality and style. At the core, we’re planners—food and bar are part of the experience, but seamless execution is the standard.
What we’re best at is taking a vision and turning it into an event that feels smooth and well cared for—timeline, vendors, guest flow, setup, details, and the overall “feel” of the day. The food and cocktails are a huge part of that, and we love them, but our planning is what ties everything together so it doesn’t feel pieced together. We’re known for Southern comfort done right—well-seasoned, beautifully presented, and guest-approved—but we’re also known for custom appetizers and unique menus that feel personal to the event. We started as true food-and-cocktail lovers, and that same standard shows up in every menu we create. Food is never an afterthought for us—it’s a centerpiece.
Many of our clients are individuals, athletes, and business owners who value their privacy—people with a select guest list who still want good food, strong presentation, and service they can rely on. That’s us. Whether it’s a private birthday celebration, a night at home with friends, an on-site venue event, or even a surprise marriage proposal, we know how to create an experience that feels personal, polished, and well cared for.
What we’re most proud of is that we’ve grown primarily through word-of-mouth and referrals. People hire us because they’ve experienced our work firsthand—or someone they trust has—and that means everything. What sets us apart is the balance: thoughtful planning, strong execution, and hospitality that guests can feel. We don’t just make it look good—we make it run smoothly, so clients can actually enjoy their own event.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What we like best:
DFW has energy, variety, and a real appreciation for celebration—and for great food. The mix of cultures, styles, and traditions here keeps events creative and exciting, and it inspires us in everything from menus to décor and event flow. It’s also a city that supports entrepreneurship and community, and we love that our work can be part of people’s biggest moments.
What we like least:
Because the metroplex is so spread out, logistics can be a challenge at times—traffic, travel time, and tight vendor calendars during peak seasons are very real. But we plan proactively, communicate early, and build timelines that protect the guest experience, so the day still feels smooth and stress-free for our clients.
Pricing:
- Because every event is unique, our pricing is customized rather than one-size-fits-all. Proposals are built around guest count, service style, menu complexity, bar needs, décor scope, staffing, rentals, and the level of planning support needed. After a short consultation, we provide a clear proposal outlining what’s included so there are no surprises and clients can plan confidently. We also offer flexible options—clients can book full-service planning or choose standalone services like catering, bartending, or décor/event setup based on their priorities.
- Our goal is to protect the experience and the budget with clear scope and clear communication.
