Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphne Volle
Hi Daphne, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Violinist Daphné Volle joined the DSO in 1996. Previously she was a member of the Fort-Worth Symphony. Since the age of 17, Volle has played professionally with such orchestras as the Lyon Symphony, Orchestre of Saône et Loire, the French Camerata and the National Orchestra of France. In 1993, she was chosen as the Concertmaster of the European Philharmonic Orchestra and toured in Europe and the United States. She has played as a soloist and chamber musician in many festivals in Europe, Canada and the United States.
The first recognition of her talent came when she won the National Radio Competition for children at the age of six. Her early training was at The Conservatory of Lyon, from which she graduated at the age of 14 with honors and was awarded a gold medal. A few months later she was accepted to study at the prestigious Paris Conservatory where she graduated in 1991. She taught violin at The Conservatory of Lyon after graduation.
In 1992, she was awarded a full scholarship to study at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Ms. Volle graduated with both an Artist Certificate degree and a Master’s degree. She was the winner of the concerto competition in 1994. In addition to playing with the DSO, Volle is an active chamber music player and teacher in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The classical music world is very competitive, it has been an intense learning journey from the age of 4 and still going on. I always say that being a musician teaches one to take a fall but also to always stand back up and keep improving.

To be a classical professional musician takes absolute dedication and constant practice but natural abilities and talent are indispensable to succeed.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Never take what we have for granted and learn to adapt and re-invent ourselves.
