Conversations with David Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Hill

Hi David , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So I always get excited to tell my story on how I got my start in music. So it’s like I was just born with the love of playing drums, and doing music. I grew up (and I’m actively still in church). I come from a heavily music inclined family. My dad would take me to rehearsals at the age of 2 years old and I’ve always just soaked up those opportunism being around music. I just have and continue to have a continuous growing love, passion and excitement about Music. So with my start in church, I then got into the corporate/wedding band scene which has been amazing too. It’s afforded me many opportunities to work with with word class musicians and travel the world. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to travel the world, meet amazing people. Now I’m still active in the ministry (I’m the music director at my church and serve as the Youth Pastor). In addition to serving in my church, working in the marketplace I spend time where I can teaching drum lessons. I have a great passion and desire to teach, help and equip as many people become the musicians they want to be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth but it’s been amazing. It’s been a journey where I’ve had to continue to stay inspired and continue to be myself. One of the struggles or things that made the journey rough was comparison I was so afraid I would never be able to go far and even be discovered because I couldn’t play how other notable drummers did but God truly helped me with that idea I placed over myself and I truly became free and it was and continues to be the most amazing feeling ever. Having confidence in the skill God gave me, my identity and outlook on drums and music makes me who I am.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So I’m a professional musician and private drum lessons instructor.

I specialize in musical performances, studio recordings, drum lessons, mentoring other musicians. I truly specialize in teaching drum lessons via online or in-person in the Dallas area.

I’m most proud of the opportunity to have work with kids and still actively do. I’m proud of the opportunity to help others grow in their talents and gifts and truly have the passion and grace for it.

What sets me apart from others is my teaching style, experience and the connection I’m able to build and have with each student. My love for each of my students and even the connection I’m able to grow with their parents sets me apart.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What like best about our city is the unity, the family aspect. People are friendly and more prone to help each other in whatever capacity needed. Being from another state and transitioning to Dallas one year ago has been refreshing. Dallas has been so amazing, loving and refreshing to me.
