Today we’d like to introduce you to Demi Brydie.
Hi Demi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Where do I start, growing up I was always obsessed with beauty and making people feel good about themselves. Something about seeing a person’s face light up with confidence they never thought they could have lights my soul up. It first started with me struggling to figure out how to do my own hair, then it quickly spiraled into skincare and makeup. I would make concoctions at home and make my little sister try them on her face.
I never thought about waxing until my coworker and I made a bet to get waxed together. Little did I know, that decision would change my life forever. I was obsessed with waxing after that moment. As I continued to get waxes it was my esthetician that helped me take that leap of faith and decide to go to school. This was a huge decision for me. I was so used to working 24/7, so the thought of only working part-time made my stomach turn.
In June of 2019, I decided to start esthetics school full-time. I couldn’t give up working so I worked 2 jobs on top of school, I know crazy right. School was nothing short of a good time, my classmates made the school experience something I’ll never forget, I made forever friendships. By this time, I knew I wanted to do waxing and work at a full body waxing studio where I had my wax done because I loved the environment so much. So, every day in school I would check to see if an opening popped up even just for the front desk so I could at least get my foot in the door. Fast forward I take my state board test and pass on the first try! The next day at school was a breeze, I went back to looking for a poison at waxing the city and low and behold one was open, so I applied and got called literally like 30 mins later. I went to the interview straight from school and got hired on the spot. I was so happy everything was falling perfectly in place.
Shortly after working there, I knew that this is what I wanted to do, and I wanted my own business.
It’s more than just waxing to me; it’s about being able to listen to my clients’ wants and needs and being able to deliver in the best way possible. Making sure each client is heard, taught, and feeling confident when they leave after their service is my passion.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Shortly after I started working at a waxing studio full time the pandemic hit and we had to close. I had only been working there for about 6 months at that time, But I knew it wasn’t the end. For this to happen so soon after starting my career I could have easily given up, I couldn’t though I love what I do way too much. If anything, I take this is a learning experience, you know as they say “get the hard things out of the way first.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do full body waxing, but I specialize in brow waxing and lash lifts. When you come to me just know I’m a perfectionist and will never settle for less than perfect. I strive to provide each client with a quality 5-star experience from start to finish. I never want my clients to feel rushed on their service, for some people coming to see me might be the only time they have to rest for a minute.
What’s next?
This year I plan to open up my own suite Naxedskin, where I will offer full body waxing, lash lifts, brow waxing, tinting, and lamination services. This will be a peaceful no judgment zone for anyone to come and receive high-quality beauty services by yours truly and leave feeling better than when you came in.
